Diesel Block Heaters

For the last two months, I've been plugging in my 2000 F-250 7.3 Diesel every night when it's below 20 degrees and I was wondering, if anyone here knows the average life expectancy of the block heater?? I did install a timer which comes on from 3:00am to 7:30am. Thanks for any information. Bugman.

I bought my truck in Colorado in October of 00. For about a month soild it got to an average of 6 below. I never once plugged my truck in and it fired up like it was 90 outside so I wouldnt personally worry to much. Infact Im in WA now and have never once plugged my truck in.
