99 superduty hp/tq numbers
I'm looking to purchase a 99 F250 superduty as well. I saw on a earlier post, someone said that the 99 superduty's had an older version 5.4 with 235 hp versus a newer 260 hp. What are the hp/torque numbers for both the 5.4L's and when did they change for sure? and what about numbers in regards to the V10. Is it worth the extra for the V10?
Also, what's the real gas mileage of both of these engines? I'm looking at Superduty Supercab Short box 4x4's w/auto tranny.
Any help/suggestions will be used towards my purchase since the local ford has one of each on the lot. The v10 has 28K on it versus the V8 having 36K. About a grand price difference. Worth it to go to a V10?
Need to pull a 6300# travel trailer.
Thanks!

The 1997 & 1998 5.4L came with 235hp & 330tq. The 1999-2001 5.4L have 260hp & 345tq. The 1998-1999 6.8L came with 275hp & 410tq while the 2000-2001 6.8L has 310hp & 425tq.
As for gas mileage I don't know. The tow rating for a SD 5.4L is 7400 lbs with 3.73 axles & 8900 lbs with 4.10 axles. The tow rating for the 6.8L is 10,800 lbs with 3.73 axles & 13,800 with a 4.30 axle.
If you are worried about gas mileage & towing, get yourself a 7.3L powerstroke.
