Question Anyone ordered an SD lately?

I was wondering if anyone had ordered an SD lately and what kind of timeframe the whole process took for you. I am working on replacing my '00 SuperCab with an '02 Crew Cab, and haven't had a whole lot of luck in finding one equipped like I want (V10, 4x4, a few other options) without having ALL the bells and whistles. Also, is there a better way to find out what local dealer would have the best chance of getting it for me quickly than talking to the Zone Manager? I don't really care where I buy it, since I will buying on "X" Plan - I just want it here ASAP!

Thanks for any information!

When I bought my 02 I was very particular about what I wanted down to the letter. The way I avoided having to have it ordered was the dealership checked every Ford dealership within 500 miles of us and found one and had it shipped up to me. Id try that before ordering one, dunno might save you some time. As far as how long an ordered one takes I believe my Grandfathers took 10 weeks.

Thats what I thought too - I have been trying the search option (AR/TX/LA parts of TN/MO), and am not finding exactly what I want. I have found several that were close, and I could live with, but no exact matches. Also, the local dealers here aren't really giving me a "warm fuzzy" about how they handle dealer transfers. I don't know about you, but if I am paying $30K+ for a new vehicle, I want it to be new. I don't want it to have 350+ miles put on it by a semi-retired part-time driver for the dealership (which is what they have proposed - NOT trailering it from the transferring dealer). I would rather fly/drive myself to the dealer and buy it directly from them and put the miles on it myself.

Oh yeah - anyone know why the "Built Ford Tough" Sport package isn't available on a Crew Cab? I think that would look sharp on a black one.

Ordering Info

The BFT is being renamed the XLT Sport Package and will be available for 2003. It will include Crew Cabs (but only in auto trannies) and come in Black, Dark Shadow Gray, Sonic Blue, Red and White. You can place 2003 orders now, but they will not be built for a couple months.

Ordering time has been taking about 5-6 weeks max. The last day to order a 2002 is May 10th.

Transporting a truck by Transport is significantly more expensive than sending a driver for it. If you were paying sticker, I bet they would go get it for you. But on X-Plan there isn't a lot of profit to play with. Offer to pay for the transport yourself if you want it hauled.

ALSO- X-Plan is now A-Plan plus 4% plus $150 effective May 1st.

Dealer I bought it from transported it for me by truck for free. If Im paying 30K for a vehicle and they dont want to transport it then Ill go buy it from who has it or order it from another dealer.

So what else is new for '03?

Marty,

Got any more inside info on the '03 models? Any redesigns, new drivetrain options, etc? Pics of any significant exterior changes would be great. May be worthwhile to wait and order an '03.

Thanks

No big changes really. The main news will be in November when the 2003.25 models come out. The new 6.0 diesel and the 5 speed auto tranny are the big news. Heated, signal Tralier tow mirrors will be available (allegedly).

King Ranch available at some point during the year. That is what I am waiting for.

New colors Red Fire and Sonic Blue.

F450 Pickup available.

The only way to get a 450 pickup now is with an aftermarket bed.

What was A plan if you don't mind me asking? I've thought about one as well and I also get to buy A plan. I'm guessing about $35k for 4x4 PSD loaded.
