Talking New Superduty Owner HERE<---

I just picked up my 1999 F250 Superduty Supercab XLT 4x4 with the V10 and Auto in Deep Wedgewood Blue. The F150 had to go so i could pull a bigger trailer. But i have a couple of questions.

1. The V10, what is the Horsepower and Torque ratings for this motor?

2. The door says axle code C1. I know it's a 3.73 gear, but is it limited slip? And what kind of axles does it have? Dana 60, 50, or 40's?? i know the rear is a twelve bolt, but it's huge *grins*

3. Also, besides K&N filter, what upgrades are suggested? I really want to improve the exhuast sound to sound much deeper. Sound is too quiet, and doesn't sound powerful like the V10 is. Suggestions?

Thanks a bunch. And I'm happy to be a Superduty Owner...

The 1999 SD V-10 had a hp rating of 275. The 2000 and up are 310. I have 3:73's and they are NOT LS, but it DOESN'T mean that yours isn't. I am very tired and can't think! Congrats on the new truck! You will LOVE your Super Duty! I totally LOVE mine. As long as Ford builds
'em, that is what I am going to drive!

The front axle is a Dana 50, the rear is a Sterling 10.5. The exhaust on a V10 can be tricky. It has a roar, almost indy car like not a rumble like the V8's do. IMO, headers are a must. Do some searching here and over at www.ford-trucks.com and www.ford-diesel.com for more exhaust info.

adding a lil more

for your axle question, I found this ... however, it is not specific to your C1:

And as V10 man pointed out ... this might be useful to tell: http://www.asclepius.com/carpentract...rentialid.html
Chances are it's a limited slip 3.73 but not really sure without taking the VIN to someone who can decipher it. From what I've heard the door post sticker is not the true indicator of the axle type/ratio.

There is usually an " L " stamped somewhere on the housing if it is LS.

    Gibson or Flowmaster on V10???

I've found out it has the 275HP/410TQ V10 based on 99 numbers. And i've read the code on the axle tag and i do have the Sterling 10.5 with 373 limited slip. Now i need to know opinions on exhaust upgrades. I've heard the one for Borla, but i don't think i'm going to be wanting to spend that type of money on it.

So it leaves Gibson or Flowmaster.

The flowmaster force II kit is about 200 bucks, it looks like close to 300 on the Gibson. Anyone with any experience with these and the V10?

If you are looking for a nice sound improvement and maybe a little added power then concider just replacing the muffler. The Superduty uses 3" tubing and is relativly free flowing. Many are using the Flowmaster 40 series. Honestly, with just a cat-back(any brand) don't expect more than 10hp gain.

    THanks V10man,

Yeah, i don't expect much of a hp/tq gain, but the truck definately don't sound like a V10 stock. more like a 4 or 6 cyl foreign car. I think i'm going with the Flowmaster Force II catback system. I would like a borla header system, but starting at 850 for just headers, i don't think that it is in the exhaust budget.

    Thanks again

Whoa! That is a huge chunk of change. You need to shop around. I paid $530 delivered from www.truckperformance.com The Borla system includes the headers, replacement Y pipe and all needed hardware. OK.. now I know something is up. I just checked truckperformance.com and they are now listing the kit for $841.49. They have lost their minds! I bet the greedy lil bastards are trying to get what Banks is earning on their headers. What a shame. Glad I bought mine when I did.

the only thing I like about my SD is the looks, this truck is a piece of sh##, always in the shop. I suggest getting rid of it before it puts you in the poor house, as for the exhaust I have a cat back gibson and it sounds pretty good, not too loud but sounds strong

    tell me more

Like exactly what is wrong w/ith your truck?

What's it been in the shop for?

I love mine so far. It's not perfect, they should of combined the 150 and some of the 250's features, and i'd take two of those. lol
