F250 CC SWB Lariat test drive....

Took one out a lunch today with my cousin. Full load, 5.4L, auto, 3.73's. A beaute of a truck, nice ride, you can't beat sitting up nice and high in a SD. Big dissapointment with the gear choice though, made the truck a total dog. Down shifted on all the hills here, was sloooooowwww to accelerate, was not pleased at all. I drove a SD 5.4L before with the 4.10's, was much better. 1st/2nd gear shift was at 73km/h. Throttle responce in OD was almost non-existant. My gutless F150 with a 4.6 would walk away from it easily, and has more throttle response in OD.
3.73's are fine for the V-10 or PS, but it shouldn't even be an option for the 5.4 in a CC 4x4.
My 2 cents!

5.4?

They should not even offer the 5.4 in a SD.The truck weighs over 7000 #'s. The V-10 or PS should be the only option's.

I would pretty much agree with you on this. Having owned two SDs (one 5.4, one V10), I would say the ONLY way I would ever get another 5.4 in one is if it was a regular cab and I didn't plan on maxing the truck in terms of towing/hauling. However, for someone who just WANTS an SD and doesn't plan to use its capacity, the 5.4 would be OK.
