Will 315's fit stock wheels

Yes, you can put just about any tire on any wheel...
Word of advice, just because it is done, doesn't mean it is safe to do...Some tire places wont sell you any bigger tire then what comes stock, this tire IMHO is too big for a stock 7" rim, plus the fact they wont wear right...Plus the insurance companies frown on this if you are in a wreck...
The rule I was under and go by is 2" width over the rim width...so a 9" wide tire is about as wide as it will go safely...
I know the SD looks mean with the wider tires, You might consider going with the 295/75's..IMHO

I can get a good deal on some wheels and tires for about $880 shipped to my door, but I would need to sell my existing wheels and tires. I did see that truck again and I do remember that there seemed to be a lot of wear in the centers. And they did look way to big for the wheels. I could post them in the classifieds here but in the past there was a lot of tires and wheel in there.

I ran 315/75 tires on the factory rims for several months after I lifted the truck. I didn't have any problems.

About a month ago I got new 16x8 wheels. I will say the new wheels look and handle better.

Yes, you can run those tires on 10" rims. A 10" wheel is probably the most popular choice for 315/75 tires (same as 35x12.50R16). I like the tires to stay in the wheelwell as much as possible because I have a 350' gravel driveway and I don't want my paint to be chipped up. That's why I've stayed with 7" and 8" rims.

YES YOU CAN PUT 315 w/o any problems; BUT it depends on what stock rims your truck came with.
I've got a 2000 SD-Crew Cab - V-10, 4X4, "Lariat" package. Those models came with an 8" rim. To all the pundits out there, 'Yes, the guys at Discount Tire and I measured them'. I'm running 315 75R16 with no problem..... Truck has a 4" BDS Lift....

I have the deluxe alum. When I got the 285's put on these wheels measured at 7". I have been looking for steel wheels since I will be doing some wheeling and steel usually is less likely to be damaged and is easier to repair. But I have had no luck in finding any 8 or 10" wheels in steel. Any suggestions?
altec do you have any pic's?

OK, how about 295/75-16 BFG All terrain T/A's They are only 1" shorter and 1/2" narrower than 315's but they are spec'd for 7.5-9.5" wheel. My 285's are spec'd for 7.5-9" and they are doing well. With the 4" lift I do want more rubber but I also like my OEM wheels. If I did this, could I keep the 285 spare I have, or should I go with another BFG. I hate to spend the extra money for something that sits under the truck. I dont have ls and I figure I will go to the closest place I can get it fixed.

Bob..I understand about the wider tires and they look sweet on the trucks...The drawbacks are decreased fuel economy, and you get abnormal wear on them because you dont have the rim for them...There are alot of people out there running them...
The 295/305 is a size that people use...the spare would work with these...I wouldn't buy another tire just for the spare, which I dont use mine...
If you want the 315's, then do it...I am saying that I would not do it...Alot of people have them and say its no problem...off road they work well...They sure do look good, and I have not seen too big a tire on these trucks yet(have seen 44" on one)..

I bought a set of 315’s from Nebraska tire. They were new take off Wild Country’s. I got them for $61.50 plus $45 Freight. A good deal except they had to scrub the lettering off both sides because I guess Les Shwab has an exclusive on these tires from what I am told. Other than where the lettering was they look great. They have 18/32 of tread which is what they are rated at from the factory. I plan to mount them to new 8” wheels since the 7” are not approved for these, but 8” is. I just with they didn’t have to scrub the lettering off.
