It seems to me that a thrush muffler is just a top end glasspack. I run glasspacks on my truck (2 that are 36") and like the sound, but that is me.

ever think about blowing the glass out of them? my brother did that on his 82 F-150 when he had it and it made it a lot louder. all he did was drive for a long time and get it nice and hot, put some water in there and keep hitting the gas. eventually you hear glass shatter inside and the truck is a lot louder.

Glass shatter? It's just a fiberglass packing like the inside of a 2 stroke dirt bike. Where's the shattering noise come from?

I just got a couple of Thrush mufflers for free, and I am thinking of keeping them for my Jeep, but they may get to go on the truck if it's a good idea. I'd like to know myself what opinions are of Thrush on the F-150.

Sorry, I didn't mean to confuse you. Thrush mufflers are for Cars/Trucks. I was just using the dirt bike as an example of how they are constructed. The Thrush mufflers have what looks to be like insulation wrapped around the core. Over the years there have been many ways used to burn this insulation out and get the rat-a-tat sound these mufflers are know for. Most of the time this just gets blown out over the life of the muffler. Hard core Thrushers wanted the sound the minute they were put on. I know guys that used to pour a pint of oil in the muffler while they were being installed. By the time the smoke cleared the glass packing was long gone, the desired sound was achieved and the mufflers still looked new. Most cherry bomb type mufflers are set up the same way.

wolfcreek, if you want an exhaust thats louder than your glasspack, do what i did and cut out the muffler and weld in a piece of straight pipe. It sounds great! But if you want a quieter muffled sound, Thrush mufflers sound good. My buddy here at school has a pair on his 90 GT with dumps under the car and it sounds pretty good.

Not quite, glass packs are a straight shot through.

Uhhh.... disregard this, the glasspack picture didn't show up the first time I responded to the comment.
