I agree with you 100%! They use the same crap over & over.
I don't dislike country or rap, I just don't usually listen to it.

I had XM put in my truck about 2 or 3 months ago. I have started to listen to just about everything played.

Bottom line...if it pleases my ear, I will listen to it.

Sometimes it is good to LISTEN to music, not just HEAR it. Most songs, whether it be rap, county, rock or whatever, generally have a good message. If it means enough to someone to write a song about it, it is worth me listening to.

I hate this argument. Country and Rap could not be more alike...
One huge difference, the Country guys are "usually" on the right side of the law.

I used to hate country, until so many folks that I previously listened to piped open their mouths about politics and the president. They no longer get my $$$. Country singers, on the other hand, have won me over.

rebellion

I think the reason you don't hear rap or rock artist doing much in the way of tributes to the US armed forces can be attributed to the fact that the popular opinion is to support these troops. Rap and rock are based, at their roots, in rebellion. You know, sticking it to the man, etc. So they risk 'being square' if they do anything that might have a positive or caring image associated to them. Whereas, country music has always been less into the whole anti establishment stuff. Just my opinion.

Don’t worry about that Rap crap, it is a fad that will go the way disco did in the 70’s. County, Rock, Blues, Classical and Jazz will be with us forever, Rap on the other hand is just crap spewed that for the most part has no real meaning except to make money and make the Rap artists look like a bunch of uneducated morons of which they are…

burt - i hope to god your right about rap just being a fad that will die out. i mean, what person in their right mind would be proud of being from the 'ghetto' and being involved with gangs, drugs, and crime?

I think Rap or some variation of it (i.e. black dominates music) will be around for a long time. It's been over 20 years now that rap has been gaining popularity. I think it's probably peaked but will maintain a strong audience especially with the teenagers. The reason I say this is the amount of crossover that has occured with Hip Hop and other music forms, even country. Disco was never really accepted much outside of itself. I think disco was more absorbed by pop music and rap fell into the void, but that was before my time.
