Chevy Kill
EDIT* I originally posted this in the computer chips forum and I think i might have made Mike Mad or something so he moved the thread over here. Not bragging, I was just sharing with my computer chips guys where I post most often..
Ok, so I know this isn't the best place to post this sort of thing, because this is the Computer Chips section, but it's pretty much the only place I post on this site..
Anyways, I worked from 9 to 6 today and was on the way home when it started to sort of rain. I was a little out of sorts over this because I Just spent about 3 - 4 hours cleaning my truck this weekend as it had been dirty for a while, PLUS, the new paint that I had put on because I got keyed all the way around the truck was really lookin nice, and since I couldn't wax, because it was new paint, I had some nice spray/mist and wipe by mcguires on there.
It was just looking good...
But it started raining so I got a little annoyed.. Which led to me racing a chevy. Got off the Highway and came to the red light.
I was in the left lane, about 10 feet behind the White Chevy Silverado in the right lane. Because I don't know how to tell what engines they have, I DID note some things so you guys could confirm for me. It was an extended Cab, but it had those kinda cheap looking hub cabs, NOt wheels, on it. I could tell he hadn't done anything to it, and also noted the stock ehaust system out the back. Looked like a work truck.
Anyhow, I ddin't get a good view of the guy, but I just had "that" feeling he was gonna push it at green.. So I dropped it down into First and waited.
Soon as the light turned green, we both started out normally, but agressively. About 3/4 through the intersection he and I turned it on at about the same time. I could hear his WOT and I was chuggin pushin upwards of about 3Krpm
Past the intersection, there is a moderate, not steep, but fairly decent hill, before it flattens off at the top. About 3/4 up the hill the front of his truck was at about the middle of my truck. I hit a little after 4K rpm and pushed it up into second... Because it doesn't shift right away, as we all know, I had to anticipate that when it did engage into 2nd, it'd be at about 4/12 - 5 K rpms, I think where it Red lines. I can't tell because I have the APC guage on there so I just have to estimate based on the sound.
Soon as I popped into 2nd, he was behind my rear end and I was pullin pretty good on him. Seemed like he let off quite a bit at this point but I kept pushin it in 2nd just to rub it in a little bit (i'm a jerk hahaha). Anyways, started slowin down, put it into Drive, and i was at about 65 mph, so I think I probably got to about 70 - 75 at the most.
I am not sure what kind of engine he had though, It had to have been a v8 though because of the crew cab, but it was not nearly as fast as my Brother in Law's 5.3 L with Flowmaster and Intake.. (HE smashes me pretty good).
So anyways, I'd still consider it a W in the Ford Guys Column, specially since I"m only at 230 HP stock, maybe + 10 with Exhuast and intake.
Weather was at 69 Degrees F according to my little temp thing, and the humidity was extremely HIGH as it had just gotten done raining.
So atleast the victory was a consolation to my perfectly clean truck getting dirty with the rain.
