Presidential Debates (VP's)

Cheney isn't flustered and slow on the draw like Bush. In the end I give Cheney the win tonight. There was a lot more clear animoscity between these two than Bush and Kerry, and that got and held my attention.

Cheney did precisely what I knew he would do: chew him up, and spit him out. Cheney's dealt with so many a-holes throughout his career, Edwards was simply another chump lawyer.

so don't downplay it. the smart people i know, who hate Bush mind you, even conceded Cheney completely trounced Edwards.

You might know a thing or two about being a shrub slave, actually more like a Borg drone getting directions from the collective.
What will you do when there isn't a hive anymore?
Oh, I know... get all 'upset' about a BJ in the oval office, nahhh thats been done.
Don't worry, The Rove mind will give you the direction you need.
Friday on my mind... the Easybeats.

I didn't think Edwards got smoked at all..... I thought it was a helluva debate (probably the best I have seen.) I'd probably give Cheney a slight edge at best, although Edwards more then held his own.... Most of the polls I've seen reflected the same. I was pretty impressed with the brilliance displayed by both. Too bad these two are not running for president instead of their running mates. As usual, most all of us on here are watching thru colored glasses. Ultimately, as good of a debate as it was, I don't think it will have much of an impact on the election if any at all, as both just did a far superior job of making the same points already made Thursday night without opening up any new lines of attack. If it has any effect, perhaps it will help stop the bleeding for the Bush team from last week, and help halt the momentum Kerry has received as a result of Bush's poor performance. Bush needs a strong performance on Friday to rebound from last week, or this thing could begin to head the other way quickly.

Let’s see they are going to roll back tax cuts for anyone making over $200k, which means most small businesses will get screwed which means they either lay people off or not hire any more. Small business accounts for the most new job starts then any other entity.
Ok, so now we have a promise from Kerry and company they are going to get rid of more jobs and create 0 ZERO new jobs by taxing working people who create jobs and opportunities.
Now you have less of a tax base to collect to pay for these programs that will absolutely bloat the deficit. Funny thing is they have a myth they are trying to pass on about reducing the deficit in half. How the hell does one do that when they are reducing the tax base (federal revenue) which is needed to cut the deficit and pay for their programs.
Kerry and company have NO plan but to put more Americans out of work and those that still work will get soaked with more taxes. Their plan is to spend as much money as possible and grow the deficit. To top that off they will put America at great risk to future terrorist attacks since they have no plan for that either. Their plan is to get global permission through a global test, or in other words get the United Nations permission before doing anything to protect America.
Yep, Kerry and company is going to “outsource” America’s security obligations…
This my friends is a real good team…

Quite honestly, I don't belive either one, although from the Reagan administation on, the democrats have a far better track record for fiscal responsibility and balancing the budget which is the opposite of what they are traditionally known for.

For those two drastic events the deficit is doing very good indeed. If we had done what the liberals like loudest wanted us to do we would be in VERY, VERY deep as far as the deficit because we would have coward back and let more terrorist attacks happen in our homeland while the liberals took the time to try and understand the terrorist feelings…
They terrorist only need to understand one feeling, and that is what it feels like to be 6 foot under dirt…

Besides, Cheney is already driving that runaway train of an administration, so in a sense he is running for president.

Here is the only thing that matters about this election security for America. Let’s look at how the two men handle security for America by assuming its there wife being beat to death by a mugger…
President Bush –
Man comes running up to his wife with a club looking frantic and crazy. What would President Bush do? Pounds the crap out of the crazy basturd till he does not move anymore or no longer breaths. This was a manly decision…
Kerry –
Man comes running up to his wife with a club looking frantic and crazy. What would Kerry do? First stand there looking kind of stupid, like what the hell is this. Second tries to study the situation and wonder what has the crazy basturd so upset. Man begins to beat Kerry’s wife and Kerry ask crazy man what the problem is, can we talk about this. Third, Kerry calls 911 and explains a crazy basturd is beating his wife what should he do. 911 tells him to defend her until the police get there. Kerry ask to speak to the police first to “pass the global test” in order to first have permission to defend his wife. Forth, Kerry slaps the man and it does nothing, he slaps him again and tells him he better stop because he has 9 friends coming to assist. When the police show up Kerry realizes he should have fought for his wife who is now in critical condition but still wonders if he should have had more “permission” to actually hit the man to knock him out or kill him…
Not a manly decision and the same policy Kerry has outlined he would use to defend America…

It was a good debate.
Cheney has been around forever, so he should be a slickster, and he was. Edwards is a lawyer, which is a slickster by definition. Even match, even outcome.
I will say Cheney: 51, Edwards 49. Cheney's canned, but incorrect statement of being the Senate President, but never having met Sen Edwards before last night, may have gotten him the knock-down hit, but not a knock-out. Upon review, the ref would have waived the flag.

i liked it when the moderator tried to get Cheney to take a direct shot at Edwards with thew question about blaming him for what is wrong with medical malpractice claims. Talk about a loaded question, " Mr. vice President, why don't you just come out and call your oponent a scumbag ambulance chaser?".
Otherwise I thought that the questions for both of them were really good, perhaps better than the ones in the first presidential debate.

From factcheck.ORG :
Cheney's "First Time"
Cheney claimed Edwards has such a poor attendance record in the Senate that he was just meeting Edwards for the first time during the debate, even though Cheney visits the Senate every Tuesday. But the Kerry-Edwards campaign quickly documented at least two instances in which Cheney had met Edwards previously. Edwards escorted Elizabeth Dole when she was sworn in as North Carolina's other senator on January 8, 2003, according to Gannet News Service. Cheney administered the oath.
Cheney also was present with Edwards at a National Prayer Breakfast on Feb. 1, 2001, when a transcript shows Cheney acknowledged Edwards among those at the gathering:
Cheney: (Feb. 1, 2001): Thank you. Thank you very much. Congressman Watts, Senator Edwards, friends from across America and distinguished visitors to our country from all over the world, Lynne and I are honored to be with you all this morning.

Have to get some facts straight on WHY the deficit is where it is. First, the Clinton recession handed to President Bush and second WAR was declared on America and over 3,000 innocent men, women, and children were slaughtered.
For those two drastic events the deficit is doing very good indeed.
