...nevermind that last post.
It's time we come clean.
Probably all of us are sitting on at least two phone books to drive our trucks.

As a rule, I don't touch another man's woman, pick-up, or goat. Besides, I've heard you trained your goats to walk backward. That's just weird.

Thanks anyway.

I remember growing up back in Central Texas(waco), that around
College Station (Aggies), farm animals walking backwards(backing up so to speak)were considered stump broke. Maybe an Aggie could enlighten us?

It was also said that you could tell you were close to A&M, if the cattle backed up to the fence, when you stepped out of your truck to take a leak.

I got that feeling once or twice. But, I don’t care people that understand the matrix of the question know it’s not a stupid one and the people that have a problem with it opinions matter not to me.

Y'know Troy-boy,...I think you got flamed by a few here for being a dunce, whe I think your Q? might be legit and you should get a few apologies.

I had a 98 f150 XL I had shopped HD seats, center consol, radio, etc... If I had redone the interiro of the vehicle, debadged it, and the rest, no one would have known what the hell it was originally. Repalcing the seats with Lariats is a real possibility.
My father in law burnt his front seats out witha lit cig (accident) and his insurance company paid for the replacement. He opted to put leather LT seats in his LS Chevy. Maybe his buyer ending up rubbing his head too.

So valid question from my view.

However, if you go on the Ford.com site and register as an owner you can enter the VIN# and the trim level of the vehicle comes up (I'm pretty sure - it did with mine). If not a call to a dealer will answer your question.

As for your brother's bow tie with the big boy guts. Unless he's running a diesel on Canola oil, I cannot believe 18 is accurtate. If his digi gauge says it, I say do the math. I think the tape will tell the real tale.

I was getting an EGR code and took off the entire throttle body and cleaned the hell out of it. I just finshed this yesterday so I haven't been able to check the mileage yet. I'm sure it will be better because the EGR was messing up and my truck feels alot better.

Regardless of his mileage, you should be getting more than 13 mpg, maybe a tune up is in order...
Anyway, my Lariat does have the stripe down the side and it has Lariat stitched into the leather seats, but the badges are just plain F-150 badges. Other than the seats and the stripe, nothing else says Lariat at all...I have 2 tone paint, but I don't think that's specific to any trim level...

I forgot to mention my flootmats say Lariat to. And the stripe code on my Door Jam is blank so I never ever had a pinstripe

Yea, it helps I do have carpet, leather, autolamps, power windows locks, chrome rims, 6-disc CD changer... etc so it probably is a Lariat and not just a XLT with leather seats, and floor mats.

2 things, the 8.1 is not available in the half ton. In fact, I think the 6.0 may only be available in certain circumstances (Denali pickup?) Which means its the 4.7 or 5.3 so I believe 18 is possible. The 5.4 Ford is capable of 18 in certain circumstances. Now you said you live in town... if all you do is city driving and you have a heavy foot then 13 is probably about right.

Your trim... the year of your truck, only 2 models came without model identification on the fender badge: Lariat and Work Truck (for alimited time they sold a vehicle with less options than the XL)

If you have carpet, leather, autolamps, power windows locks, aluminum rims etc, it's definitely not a work truck.

Hope this helps.

XL and XLT are clearly indicated on the fender badge.

You definitely have a Lariat.

You've mentioned this twice now.
I have a pinstripe and can't see anywhere on my sticker that indicates a code or a blank for that matter.
Are you refering to 'PS' ? If so I don't think that is 'Pinstripe'.
There is a color code or two color codes if it's a two tone.

A major complaint with this truck is that only two pinstripes were available (burgundy/gold and I think the other was a silver/grey)and you got one or the other whether it looked like crap with your paint scheme or not.

The original owner was one of the many that decided his looked like crap and went and got his wife's hairdryer.

Thus, your misfortunes in identification.

The pinstripe on the Lariat was not a 'deletable' option.

Yes, I said that twice because people keep forgetting. And I had my body guy look at it and he said it was blank. Look here at number 7 and see for yourself http://www.fordf150.net/howto/decode.php

Talking

Your bodyshop man is mistaken.
Your bodyshop man doesn't have 3800 posts nor has he had his big fat hairy *** in a 1999 F150 Lariat for the past six years either.

I looked at your link,
I also looked at the code explanations at the bottom of the link.

I deleted all the codes that did not state 'F150'
Here is what is left:
H — Silver Metallic/Heliotrope (F-150, F-250) 4x2
2 — Ebony/Amethyst (F-150, F-250) 4x2
T — Silver Metallic/Medium Titanium (F-150, F-250) 4x4
5 — Ebony/Graphite Sparkle (F-150, F-250) 4x4
R — Silver/Dark Toreador — upper, Dark Toreador/Silver — lower (F-150, F-250 Lariat)
8 — Dark Blue/CoraPeach — upper and lower (F-150, F-250 Lariat)
9 — Bright Green/Pacific Green — upper, Pacific Green/Bright Green — lower (F-150, F-250 Lariat)
S — Silver/Ebony/Silver — upper, Ebony/Silver/Ebony — lower (F-150, F-250 Lariat)
C — Light Prairie Tan/Heliotrope (F-150, F-250) 4x2
F — Light Prairie Tan/Medium Titanium (F-150, F-250) 4x4

Which one says F150 lariat of any color?

ummm... does that make you like a $ex god or something?

I thought 30 minutes was a workout... but 6 years? That's some stamina.
