Ok, in summary, You said that I said that the salesman said that the factory slipped up. Troy said he has no sticker because he has no code. You said that Lariats don't get a sticker code. What does all this mean? Not much that I can conclude.

My beef is that they did come from the factory that way, without the pin strip, back in 99. Since there is no PS code on a Lariat's sticker I'll go with slip up, and I'll go with Troy has a slipped up lariat.

Here is the best point of all that the stripe does not make a Lariat. The Off Road package specifically states that the sticker is part of the package. So does the FX4 package. The Lariat trim level does not. Looking at the 99 book under Off Road it does say: 4x4 Off Road decal (except Lariat)

The lariat trim package lists:

Lariat (XLT features plus)
  • 40/60 split bench seat with front leather seating surfaces
  • Five-spoke cast aluminum wheels (4)
  • Remote Keyless Entry system
  • 4.6L SEFI Triton V8 engine (A)
  • 4-speed auto overdrive (A)
  • 3.55 rear axle
  • Color-keyed grille trim (4x2/4x4)
  • Color keyed, carpeted floor mats
  • Autolamp and power driver's seat
  • Color-keyed, leather-wrapped steering wheel
  • Power signal mirrors, color-keyed
  • P255/70x16SL OWL all-season tires
  • Premium AM/FM stereo/single CD/Premium Sound/clock/4 speakers
