Lemon Laws

I was wondering if anyone knew the specifics about the lemon law. I bought my F150 in new hampshire but i live in maine. It seems that I have been having more problems than usual and the one problem that is persistent is the bucking of my truck when I accelerate. THe RPM's will jump up and down and the truck will lurch back and forth and my foot is evenly on the gas pedal. The dealer runs the TSB tests and it works temporary for about week then goes back to normal. I was just wondering if people knew how you would go about claiming a case that you own a lemon and if I would need a lawyer. Anyone go through this or know about it?? THanks

I think that New Hampshire Lemon Laws would apply to you. since that was the State of purchase. I did it in Florida in 2001, it's no big deal, but it takes a while.

It took almost two months to get it settled. Go look your laws up online, there is a website for it I don't know the link. You have to document problems and days out of service, you also have to notify the state and the manufacturer with a special letter. the state will have a hearing before a board of specialists from both sides. IN my case, it was settled before the hearing and I was notified to take the vehicle to my local dealer to surrender it, I was reimbursed every dime I paid minus 20-something cents per mile for usage. The service manager will inspect the vehicle upon surrender and give you a check for the difference minus usage. Or if you don't like their offer, you can go to the hearing anyway and fight for more. MOst state laws provide for refund or vehicle replacement. If it goes to hearing and you win, I think you get a choice. I would think most people accept a refund. It also helps to have a substantial problem. Mine stalled at random and was out of service for 54 days, if I recall correctly. It's not a big deal if you have a legit case, you should not need a attorney. Call the Dept of Consumer Affairs or whatever office handles this in your State. They can talk you through it.

www.lemonaid.com. I can't recommend him as I had a bad experience with him, but the web site is pretty comprehensive. He's based right here in the Detroit area, so he deals with them all the time.
