Google Desktop v2
I have had Google Desktop on my computers since the release it...and I must say that it has become a VERY useful tool in my day-to-day activities.....
Well, Google just released their Beta2 of this program (all Googles stuff is "Beta" so do not let that scare you newB's)....I must say that this is quite the improvement....It has a "sidebar" now that contains various information (emails, news, notepads, weather, pictures, to-do list, vital system information, etc...)
If you have not already downloaded this utility...I would definitely recommend it and give it

Google desktop just indexes your files and makes them more searchable.
BeOS had this in the 1990s.
I was all about google until I started reading their privacy statements.
By default, google desktop sends information about what you have been searching for on your own computer.
Just what I want. The world experts on indexing data indexing what I search for on my computer.

BTW...I remember tinkering in BeOS...wasn't really impressed with it though....Linux really grew on me...I just wish it had better software compatability.....

This I know...but I could never get my CAD programs to work correctly under Wine...and as far as Linux goes...I only know enough to be dangerous....so it was just a matter of a few weeks after my install that I would get the kernel to panic and lock myself out of the system....
