Metallica fans?

Yeah, them again...

I was just sitting here listening to some of their older stuff, wondering if they were going to have anything new to offer anytime soon...

Any ideas? I've got St. Anger tucked away in a closet or somewhere. I try not to think about it... Hoping they'll come out with something "better" soon...

St. Anger.....dear god....talk about beating a goat with a large fish.....that was by far the worst crap I have ever heard since the boy band era....

...other than that POS album....I am a fan...can't argue with the Black album...

I could not agree more, it was terrible, but did you listen to the whole album hoping it would get better?

I tried so hard to like it, but in the end, had to go back to the old albums to flush St. Anger from my mind.

You can tell the age of the people on this board.

I hated the black album like you guys hate St. Anger.

"And Justice" was their pinnacle both musically and with their attitude towards it.

Alot of their music before was good, but it was mostly rehashed Mustaine riffs. So I will give the credit to him as he is truly the master of the era.

Metallica alienated their fans when they started going to therapy. It didnt help when Lars said that Metal was Dead at the music awards.

I remember standing in line in the 8th grade to get Master of Puppets.

Most of the real good metal is coming out of Sweeden. I can suggest a few.

I wouldnt hold your breath with Metallica coming out with anything good.

Some of these are from the states... Most of them are not.

Meshuggah, In Flames, Soilwork, Children of Bodem, A Life Once Lost, At the gates, As I Lay Dying, Darkane. Just to name a few.

I really wish I could give all of my music to everyone. There are so many great bands that go relatively undiscovered.

Im with most of you guys. They were real good years ago, but there noew stuff, isnt worht the plastic its recorded on. I seen them in concert 3 times, all great shows....I wouldnt dare go see them now. I hate the new "unrehearsed, garage band sound"

Yeah. A million dollar band shouldn't spend time and money to make their album sound like a garage band. I just dont get it. They are completely burnt out musically. Time and talent has completely passed them. There are so many great musicians/bands out there. People just dont get exposure to it so they stick with what is safe, or safer.

You got guys like Exodus, Overkill, Kreator, Coroner still chugging away just like they have been. No excuses about it. They live for their fans. Not because of them.

And Robert Trujillio joining Metallica. Good for him. Although he far exceeds anything Metallica could dream of. I dont blame him for taking the paycheck. I also dont blame Newsted going to Voivod either. (R.I.P. Piggy) Although Roberts role in S.T. and Infectious Grooves far exceeds anything Metallica could fester out of him.

Robert is the only thing they have going for them if he chooses to interject.

Sorry... Its a sensitive subject for me

therein lies the problem. They wont let him like they didnt allow Newsted to contribute.

Its all about Hetfield and his puppy Ulrich. Its Hetfields band. End of story. I think thats the real reason for Mustaine getting booted out years ago. It had nothing to do with his hard lifestyle.

Yup. Robert is a phenomonal slap/funk basist too. It Just doesnt fit in Metallica and I think they are going to keep him tame. Newsted was killer with Flotsam and Jestam. Then on "And Justice" they turned him way down.

Mustaine got booted because he kept getting drunk and calling Lars gay and making him cry. . You cant blame him. Ive always thought that. If it was truly Hetfields band he would have done what Mustaine has done for the most part up until Rust In Peace - maybe it would have helped them from not sucking. Keep 1 good musician and get others to fill in. Although Dave having sex with Gars wife during the Peace Sells recording probably didnt help the staying power.

Oh well.
