In their respective habitats, they are at the top of the food chain. But, what would happen if you put them in the same habitat. What land-animal do you think would be at the top of the food chain, and why?
Lion
Bengal Tiger
Jaguar
Anaconda
Grizzly Bear
Gorilla
Alligator
Crocodile
---------------------------
My money would be on the Bear, simply because they are so freaking strong, and they can stand up and fight down, towards the other animals like a man would against a shorter man. That said, an Anaconda could kill all of them in the right circumstance.

I'd throw Elephants in that list to.
They can be some mean nasty SOB's. I was watching Animal Planet the other day and they had a video of an elephants fighting off a pack of lions. It didn't kill any of them, but it didn't become lunch.
And if you replace Grizzly bear with a Polar bear, that gets my vote.

lions, tigers and jaguars are *****'s (heh heh) and are quick to run away when it appears they wont win and wont get dinner.
An Anaconda is only okay if it can get around you. A bear or croc would just have to clamp down their jaws and the snake is very much dead.
The gorilla is strong, but doesnt have the on board weapons (teeth, claws) so it only has a grab and smash attack.
The gators and crocs have one thing against them... they can only fight whats in front of them. If you can get on top or behind they cant do a thing. Heck, Steve Irwin ain't dead yet.
Bears... can think of how you get away from a polar/grizzly bear. I think a polar bear has what it takes to take out any of the animals on the list.

Don't you guys watch the Discovery channel? There's a show where they take the stats of two animals that normally wouldn't meet each other and build robots and CGI animations based on those stats and make them fight each other. Interesting show. I haven't seen it in a while but my girlfriend and I would always make bets on who we thought would win.

Then they can live to fight another day! How can you elinate something that you dont kill. Where the other animials will stay and die instead. Cats are also more stealth and willing to sneak up on prey when it is injured or sleeping.
With that in mind..
If you put all the top predetors in a pen and did not give them anything to eat. So they would have to kill each other to survive. Which one would be left???
Gorrillas are mainly herbavours. They will fight for defense but not agressively hunt another animal. They would become the prey. Especialy for cats. Cats would sneak up while the gorrillas were eating or sleeping and take a few of the weaker or young from the group. Preventing a next generation. So they would soon be extinct. Like the cats thier main defense is in numbers. But they wouldn't be actively hunting the cats to kill them like the cats would be them.
A bear is strong but is aloner. You never see a pack of bears. A bear is also omnivour so if all the meat is hard to kill then he will choose berries too. The cat's would gang up and kill a young, weak, bear or while they are hibernating. 20 big cats could easily circle and take down a large heathy bear by it's self if they needed too.
The anacondas would likely take thier fair share of almost everything except the cats or gorillas. Unless he stumbled on one who was sleeping. But many animals would beable to kill a few of the anacondas. When they met up with anything it would be a 50/50 chance who would win. 3-5 cats could out smart an anaconda with a trap and they could easily take one of them out by working together wether for defense or hunting for food.
Now it's down to the cat's and the reptiles. This would be the toughest prediction. I think one cat would distract either a croc or an alligator while another cat pounced on it's back from behind while yet another grapbbed his tail and pulled to keep them from being able to turn around. It would be a tough job but the cats would work together on this beast again.
Soon all the other animals would be extinct and the cats would remain. Which cat would came out on top? That would depend on which one has the shortest gestation period, as well as shortest time after birth til kittens are raised and hunting with the pack. That one would have the largest numbers to start off with so the others would have to kill more of those to extinguish them. Plus would have a larger army to hunt the other cats.
So I would say that cats would rule the roost just by thier shear numbers. Just don't know which cat would be the top meaow.
