Country Music - Killin Songs

So I've come across a couple 'Killin' songs on new CD's to my collection and I think they're great. I'll post some lyrics below... Anyone know of other country songs with murder as the topic? If anyone says "Earl had to Die" I'll kill you.

Warren Brothers - Between the River and Me
I was 15 when my daddy died
Momma worked 2 jobs just to get by
Seemed like a blessin' when Harley came around
So she took his name but i had my doubts

Didn't take long for his drinkin ways
To start showing up on momma's face
One violent night hiding under my bed,
I swore that he wouldn't see another sunset

Next day i followed him down to the riverbank
I knew one of us wouldn't walk away

(Chorus 1)
Might of had a plan but he didn't know it
Might of been scared but i didn't show it
That's all between the river and me
With the current and the rocks it could have been risky
He might have been sober, but i brought the whiskey
And That's all between the river and me

I walked up to him and i said his name
Just so he could see the look on my face
We stood eye to eye and toe to toe
When i told him that he wasn't gonna come back home

He raised his fist to me but i didn't flench
I said i ain't your son or a son of a b****

(Chorus 2)
Might of had a knife in my back pocket
Might of pulled it out before he saw it
That's all between the river and me
I might of had a gun but i didn't fire it
He might of tried to yell but i kept him quiet
That's all between the river and me
That's all between the river and me
Ohh.. river and me
Mmm.. yeah

The sheriff came knockin' on our front door
Said they found his body by the resevore
Bottle in his shirt, liquor in his blood
Must have fallen in the river and he never came up...

(Chorus 3)
Might have been blood but they never saw it
Just a little mud on the livin' room carpet
That's all between the river and me
After what he did lord it ain't no wonder
Can't remember how long i held him under
That's all between the river and me

That's all between the river and me
Ohh, that's all, that's all between the river and me
Oooohh That's all between the river and me, yeah

Knoxville Girl
I met a little girl in Knoxville
A town we all know well
And every sunday evening
In her home I'd dwell
We went to take an evening walk
About a mile from town
I picked a stick up off the ground
And I knocked that fair girl down
She fell down on her bended knees
For mercy she did cry
"Oh *****, dear, don't kill me yet
I'm unprepared to die"
She never spoke another word
I only beat her more
Until the ground around me
With her blood did flow
I took her by her golden curls
And I dragged her 'round and 'round
Throwing her into the river
That flows from Knoxville town
Go down, go down, you Knoxville girl
With your dark and roving eyes
Go down, go down, you Knoxville girl
You can never be my bride
I started back to Knoxville
Got there about midnight
My mother, she was worried
She woke up in a fright
Saying, "Dear son, what have you done
To bloody up your clothes?"
I told my anxious mother
That I was bleading in my nose
I called for me a candle
And I called for me a bed
And I called for me a handkerchief
To bind my aching head
I rolled and thrashed the whole night through
All horrors I did see
The devil stood at the foot of my bed
Pointing his finger at me
They carried me down to Knoxville
And put me in a cell
My friends all tried to get me out
But none could grow my bail
I'm here to waste my life away
Down in this dirty old jail
Because I murdered that Knoxville girl
The girl I loved so well

From my Sig...

Cross Canadian Ragweed - Wanna Rock and Roll - Written by Ray Wiley Hubbard

Last night I went down to the railroad tracks
To watch that train roll by
99 cars screaming into the dark
I heard the lonesome whistle cry
With her name on my arm and the rain coming down
I kissed her like it was the first time
I took her down to the railroad tracks, and her red,red lips touched mine

(Chorus
She said,"I wanna rock and roll
Wanna hoochie coo
Shake that thing
Baby, love me do"

The woman's got a walk to make a man cry, throw back his head and howl
Ruby red lips, liquid hips, more than the law will allow
If I told her once, I told her twice
I must of told her a thousand times
I got a red hot mind and a cold black heart
I am the jealous kind
The woman just laughed and said, "Sweet Daddy
You know you are the only one
You're my smooth lover boy, my heartache and joy
Com on let's have some fun."

(Chorus)

It was early last night, I went downtown
To a place called Johnny's Last Stand
Through the blues and the smoke
I saw her on the dance floor
She's with another man
The dead man's name was Louie Dupree
I pushed the little button on my knife
I walked up and said, "Hello boys and girls
Have you enjoyed your life?"

(Chorus
It's time to rock and roll
Wanna hoochie coo
Shake that thing
Baby, love me do

Last night I went down to the railroad tracks
To watch that train roll by
99 cars screaming into the dark
I heard the lonesome whistle cry
With her name on my arm and the rain coming down
I kissed her for the very last time
I took her down to the railroad track and her dead, red lips touched mine

(Chorus
I wanna rock and roll
Wanna hoochie coo
Shake that thing
Baby, love me do
Rock and roll
Hoochie coo
Shake that thing
Baby, love me do

The Night the lights went out in Georgia

He was on his way home from candletop
Been two weeks gone and he thought he’d stop
At web’s and have him a drink for he went home to her
Andy wo-lo said hello
He said hi what’s a doing
Wo said sit down I got some bad news that’s gonna hurt
Said I’m your best friend and you know that’s right
But your young bride ain’t home tonight
Since you been gone she’s been seeing that amos boy seth
He got mad and he saw red
Andy said boy don’t you lose your head
Cause to tell you the truth I’ve been with her myself

Chorus:
That’s the night the lights went out in georgia
That’s the night that they hung an innocent man
Don’t trust your soul to no back woods southern lawyer
Cause the judge in the town’s got bloodstains on his hand

Andy got scared and left the bar
Walking on home cause he didn’t live far you see
Andy didn’t have many friends and he just lost him one
Brother thought his wife must’ve left town
So he went home and finally found the only thing
Daddy had left him and that was a gun
He went off to andy’s house
Slipping through the back woods quiet as a mouse
Came upon some tracks too small for andy to make
He looked through the screen at the back porch door
He saw andy lying on the floor
In a puddle of blood and he started to shake

The georgia patrol was making their rounds
So he fired a shot just to flag em down
And a big bellied sheriff grabbed his gun and said
Why’d you do it?

The judge said guilty in a make believe trial
Slapped the sherrif on the back with a smile and said
Suppers waiting at home and I got to get to it

Chorus

They hung my brother before I could say
The tracks he saw while on his way
To andy’s house and back that night were mine
And his cheatin wife had never left town
And that’s one body that’ll be found
You see little sister don’t miss when she aims her gun

My favorite Chris Knight song is The River. He tells of his brother being shot out of his boat by one of the Wilsons. He waits a few months then takes care of the Wilsons. All takes place on the river while running lines.

SOB. The station played 15 seconds of Becky's Bible and then started their 'Hour of Really Really old Country Music". What a jip.
