Crash won...not Brokeback
Anyone else watch the Oscar's? Brokeback Mountain was the favorite to win, but Crash pulled through. I saw Crash, but not Brokeback. I thought Crash was pretty good. But I think the highlight of the night was the opening segment. How funny was it when Billy Crystal and Chris Rock popped their heads out of the tent! I also think Jon Stewart did an awesome job.

I usually see Best Picture after the uproar has died down.
I have seen pretty much all of them except 'The English Patient'.
I lucked out this year and caught 'Crash' before it was nominated.
Something about it made it worth remembering and I'm not surprised it won.
Sandra Bullock had a small part in it and it was by far her best work. That's not saying much looking at her resume but, she proved that she deserves roles with more 'substance'.
The scene where she rips into her husband while they're getting their door fixed made me say, 'wow'.

I sat down to grab a bight to eat while the fiance was watching. Just as I did they had some freaks jumping around "singing" its hard out there for a pimp, or something along those lines. I turned around gave the mrs.-to-be a nice go to hell look, and she quickly let us watch CSI... although, I went back to the garage shortly there after, and missed the end...
We get enough of the rich and famous crammed down our throats every time we turn on the commercial box. Why would I want to see them sit around and pat each other on the back...

My wife is a big movie fan and watches the Oscar's every year. Crash winning was a surprise to us (have not seen it yet but rented it and we will watch tonight).
The broadcast SUCKED. Stewart was bad. The endless montages were PAINFUL, especially when you knew they were running late.
George Clooney is the most arrogant SOB on the planet and a big symbol of what is wrong with Hollywood. I know it's a little late, but bring back the Hollywood of Jimmy Stewart, John Wayne, and Ronald Reagan.
After that "Hard to be a Pimp song" played and then WON an Oscar, I told my wife "30 million TV sets just changed the channel". Too bad ours was not one of them.
Also, IMO Joaquin Phoenix deserved best actor (he was superior to Best Actress Reese Witherspoon in Walk The Line), but we knew he would not get the award,

My wife watched it and was happy with most of the choicees. We had seen all of them but Brokeback and Crash. I worked on some tax stuff!
Saturday, we saw a movie that was very weird but I liked it. It was written, produced, directed and starred in by Tommy Lee Jones. If you like quirky movies with some action, go see The Three Burials of M. Estrada. It is filmed in far West Texas and Mexico and also has Dwight Yoakum in it. He is his usual goofball self.
