I just received this email from the wife of a good friend who recently returned from Iraq. Anyone heard anything about this?

Red Friday Just keeping you "in the loop" so you'll know what's
going on in
case this takes off. RED FRIDAYS ----- Very soon, you will see a great
many people wearing Red every Friday. The reason? Americans who support our
troops used to be called the "silent majority". We are no longer
silent, and
are voicing our love for God, country and home in record breaking numbers.
We are not organized, boisterous or over-bearing. We get no liberal media
coverage on TV, to reflect our message or our opinions. Many Americans,
like you, me and all our friends, simply want to recognize that the vast
majority of America supports our troops. Our idea of showing solidarity and
support for our troops with dignity and respect starts this Friday - and
continues each and every Friday until the troops all come home, sending a
deafening message that.. Every red-blooded American who supports our men and
women afar will wear something red By word of mouth, press, TV -- let's
make the United States on every Friday a sea of red much like a homecoming
football game in the bleachers. If every one of us who loves this country
will share this with acquaintances, co-workers, friends, and family, it will
not be long before the USA is covered in RED. And it will let our troops
know the once "silent" majority is on their side more than ever,
certainly
more than the media lets on. The first thing a soldier says when asked
"What can we do to make things better for you?" is...We need your
support
and your prayers. Let's get the word out and lead with class and dignity, by
example; and wear some thing red every Friday. IF YOU AGREE -- THEN SEND

I think I have a red shirt I will wear tomorrow. I will be playing in a golf tournament. Makes me feel kind of guilty, actually. We tend to take our freedom and other's sacrifices far too lightly.

 

Never heard of it but here is a clue it's a waste of time:

by waste of time I mean there will only be a handful of people doing it and there won't be enough people to recognize the significance of the red.

And that's a handful that doesn't include you??? Usually, I'm against any sort of mass action, esp those with an agenda to meet. You know the "Circulate this e-mail to keep illegals out of the country!! " type deals... But on this I will stand and say that you are an important part of. If it's a handful of people now, and get's ignored, it's going to die. But if we all champion the cause, it will spread.

 

You are right! My swing looks so much like his and with just a little more tan, I will have to fight off the autograph seekers. I better wear green.

 

Tell ya what....I'll wear Red tomorrow. IF even one person comments about the email and the red shirt I will make a full mea culpa here and send an additional $100 donation to operation-ac. However, if I don't get a comment regarding Red Friday, you send them a $100 donation.

No Vadar, that's not a deal... I have no reason, no agenda, if you will, to get you to wear red. If you do, it'll be because of your own desire to support the troops who bleed so you can have your freedoms. What I said was, why not help start the Red Friday deal? How does word of something get out? As the original e-mail started out, there's no media support. So it's through e-mail, forums, and word of mouth. If you put it out at your work, maybe one person runns with the idea. That one person then tells 15 more people, and two of them run with it... That's the only way something like this would work. If everyone has the 'it'll never work' attitude that you do, then of course it never will.
