Exotic/Crazy/Unusual food u've eaten...

Me:

Deer meat, Lamb, goat (barbeque'd, was pretty good too), rabbit, racoon (WTF were my folks thinking), and hoghead cheese.

Turtle, wax worms, $350.00 an ounce caviar,(That was the price back in 1990), swordfish.

I eat elk and deer all the time, so I don't really count it.

So yeah... Alligator, crawfish, SUSHI... I've eaten some freaky stuff before, but can't, for the life of me, recall what these things are...

Most of the wild game you listed was a staple in my house growing up, but not the raccoon. The oddest I've eaten is brain soup. It was very salty and I was VERY drunk.

Alligator tail is pretty good, just a little tough and chewy, crawfish are very good, sushi is horrible, in my opinion. rattlesnake steak is not bad tasting, it's just the thought of what you are eating. But then, just think about what that chicken had to eat before you ate it.

I think the setting has to be taken into account, as well...

In 9th grade I ate Rabbit for the first time...on Easter Sunday! (I was in Paris)

I ate turtle for the first time in Grand Cayman the same day that I visited their Turtle Farm!

First time I ever had Thai food I was a freshman in college. Someone ordered a fish dish and the entire fish came on the plate...that was the first time I had ever seen that! (tasted good, though)

Edit to add: fried alligator tail w/remoulade for dipping...yum!!

Think about what an EGG is, and I'd say that all else is pretty tame.

Sushi that was pulled out of a tank live, cut up and served on itself. The gills were still twitching when it was served.

I remember Jeff Foxworthy saying "Have you ever thought how brave that cave man was that pointed at a cow's udder and said, "i'm gonna squeeze that thang, and I will drink whatever comes out." I rolled at that. He was pretty brave.

I don't know, I think McDonald's is pretty weird. When you think about all that is in some of that "food" they serve (and I use the term food loosely) it's really disgusting.

I still eat it sometimes when I have a major jonesing for it, but seriously, that's nasty stuff.

Well I'm not very adventurous when it comes to food and never intend to be.

I know I know..."if you don't try it you'll never know" but in my case ignorance is bliss.

So I guess it would have to be Wine cheese....thought it was rainbow sherbet....dont ask :o

Dancing Shrimp [Don’t remember the Japanese name for it]: fresh and I mean fresh out of the tank: still moving on the chopsticks.

Kimchi: [fermented cabbage and other stuff]….takes some getting used to.

Gajon: Raw crab fermented in a red pepper/garlic sauce. Spelling might be off on this one.

Dried Fish: smelled a lot worse than it tasted.

Different Sushi: Octopus-good but very chewy.

Sea Urchin: sort of bland

Curried Goat: way too spicy

Just some of the different stuff I grew up with. For us, sushi was normal and hunting all the time, deer, elk, moose, bear and all kinds of fowl were usually on the menu. I know I am forgetting a bunch, but Bon Appetite to all.

Woof
