My brother leaves tomorrow for training, Iraq in October

My brother has been in the National Guard since his senior year of high school. He almost has 20 years in. This will be the second time he has been activated. The first time he was set to go over seas from Oklahoma, and his orders were changed. This time is the real deal. He leaves tomorrow for somewhere in Wisconsin until October for training. In October he will get to come home for about a week, and then leaves for Iraq.

He is full time in the guard as a mechanic. His job in Iraq will be as a mechanic, hopefully in a shop somewhere, but who knows. He is not in the least bit scared by all outward appearances. I would be terrified. He knows it is his duty, and he's proud to do it. I am proud for him, just worried. He has a wife and 2 boys, 10 and 7.

It is sort of an emotional time for our family. My 3 big brothers mean the world to me. I don't know what I would do without any of them, even though we've had our differences.

So please pray for Brian Massey. 875th engineering batallion, Jonesboro, AR along with the rest of our troops, and our country's leaders.

The media paints an ugly picture about what's going on over there. If you take the time to talk to those that have been 3 or 4 times and you find that it's just another overseas deployment for them. The folks that have to run the convoys have the toughest job for sure. But most on the bases are pretty secure.

Our thoughts and prayers for you and your family.

All of our troops are in my prayers daily. I'll remember to send a special one for your brother and his family. God Bless them all.

Thank your brother, and thank you to all the service men and women. Thank you, your family and all the families for what you have had to endure. Some of us believe that what's happening in Iraq and Afganistan is historic and will have lasting positive effects.

It's people like your brother, for his service and you, a family member who must deal with the effects of having a family member fighting for us all, that make me proud to me an American.
