Man, that's a lot of "big headed dogs" (That's what we called a doe on the CB whenever we would accidentally kill one...)

Do you guys need doe tags, or is it open season for buck and doe? I always wondered how the laws differed from state to state...

All in all, I'm extremely jealous. I haven't been deer hunting in probably 16-17 years. I miss it A LOT...

LMAO at the semi kills. My dad took down a four point on Sunday with his SUV in North Dakota. Funning this was there wasn't a scratch or dent on his Infiniti QX4, only a lone hair by the headlight that was stuck on.

We have some pretty large deer here in eastern MN (near Wisc).

I was taking the trash out last week (by the way I live in the country/extreme outter burbs) and saw a HUGE 14 point buck standing within 30 yards of me. He wasn't even phased by me throwing trash into the trash can and walking away. I guess you don't get that big without knowing who has and who doesn't have a gun. It's the biggest buck I've seen to this day, sure wish I'd of seen him when I was deer hunting.

Thanks everyone, with the exception of the 2 above, well lets just say they are little b!tches. The season is young here. We do need to apply in NYS and hope to get a doe permit each year. I took the 4 point because it moved in the open field and i had a 170yd shot and took it with a .30/.30 and dropped it in its tracks, (i still got it) and my freezer is half full. Around here a 4 point is the norm and until they (NYSDEC) place a limit on bucsk rack size here you won't see many larger, they are there but not as many as should be.

Four point is normal??? Here in Arkansas a four point is illegal to shoot. It must have at least three points on a side before you can lay the crosshairs on him. On WMAs they must have at least four points on a side.

I had two permits-filled one the first day, and didnt see anything else but doe the rest of the week (buck only permits)

Here is a pic of the rack-rest of the deer is in the freezer

Quarter for size comparison. I was going to use a beer can but it totally covered the antlers up...quarter makes them look bigger...

Bruzr-in NE you can get an 'either or' tag (whitetail or muley buck with at least one antler 6 inches in length, or a doe) or a 'buck only' with the same rules as above. You usually get a choice of which one you want-price is the same. I got mine over the internet and it didnt even give me a choice though

Yup. I hunt not too far from BD and the biggest so far this year in my immediate area has been a 6 pointer.

Well here in NY things are different this 4 point yielded 40 butterfly steaks, 26 regular steaks, 16 lbs of ground, 10 lbs of stew, a 1 big roast and 2 nice size inner tenderloins . I wish they would put something like what you have in Arkansas but it ain't happening yet. Alt i am in 9W not to far from your area.

Filled my tag this morning. Only had a doe tag (all tags are on a lottery system here in ND). Total time hunting this year..... 3.5 hours (for deer that is). Shot a mule deer doe at about 275 yds angled slightly towards me across a huge ravine. Unfortunately, shot hit in the guts and out the hind quarter so some meat is wasted. Can't complain too bad though I hadn't shot my rifle past 100 yds before today. (for the record I am accustomed to shooting these distances, I just bought my rifle in Virginia and couldn't find a range past 100 yds. I just calculated bullet drop and guestimated wind drift) It sucked dragging her out though.

Sorry no pics.. already hung and skinned. Unless you want a pic of the carcass.

I killed a nice 8 point yesterday evening. My mom took some pics have to get them from here b4 I can post. I saw a pile of does and four or five smaller(spike-7 point) bucks. We only shoot 8 point and up but we have our own place (5000 acre cattle ranch) so its not like if we let them walk somebody else is gonna kill them.

here in wisconsin we have earn-a-buck, we have to shoot a doe before in order to shoot a buck, i shot a doe only. The good news is that i now have my doe earned for next year, so i can go for a buck right away.
