5.7 Tundra with 381 HP.........

The thing is that yeah we were short on horsepower, but if we'd have had a 5 speed auto to make the most of the power, it wouldn't have seemed so underpowered.
Another thing. Ford claims the whole "Bold Moves" thing, yet they are sticking the same motors and grilles on every product they have. The only thing "BOLD" about that is that they are willingly doing the whole GM re-badge thing.

I think it'll look even better with Chrome step rails, ventshades, Flowmaster SIDO with 18" chrome tips, 22" Asanti 5-spokes, wrapped in 305/50/22" tires, painted to match tonneau cover, and limo tint.
Call it a day...

ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
i like and dislike that
i have (no offense) a dislike for beds that short, thats why i dont like a lot of supercrews
i like big beds like the 6.5
and whats up with those back doors looking bigger than the front doors?
crazy japanese
and something about it
i dont know what
it looks like they made it to look like you should put big wheels and a wide body kit and start drifting it down a track.
looks really fat
i liked the extended cab version better
but i dont like how they open forward.
real extended cabs should have the doors open backwards :P, or all the way back like titans, i love those doors.

That long door might be a "B" in a tight parking lot (If you really need to open it all the way to get in), but I'd bet where that isn't a concern, it's going to make entry, exit, loading, unloading, and rear-passenger comfort matched/exceeded only by the Mega-Cab Dodge's. Perhaps even with behind the rear seat storage, and reclining seatbacks.
I'll definitely take a look at it.
Adding Tundra CrewMax to my "Gonna take a look at it" list.
PS: I know what you mean about the Ford SCrew's. They're cool (We've owned two), but my favorite F-150 was stil my 1999 Amazon Green, F-150 SuperCab flareside. Ooooh, she was pretty... I only had her for 18 months (Traded it on an Expedition) but, it was a great 18 months... Still miss'er. I just wish I had better pics of it...
My Scab pics are crappy, I know- but this was before the days of cheap digital cameras. These were taken with a crappy disposable camera in very bright light (Yet the pics came out dark).
I had 295/60/16's (GoodyearEagle GT-II's) on it, wrapped around American Racing Atlas wheels, Flowmaster SIDO, Limo Tint. I had planned more (Spray in bed liner, matched tonneau, upgraded stereo- but, they made me an offer I couldn't refuse on my 2000 Expy, so the SCab had to go...

I just took the tour, and I've got two words...
Holy s**t!
Say what you want about the looks, but, I think it looks damn good- and, as far as trucks go, if you aren't driving an F-250 - 350, or GM/Dodge 2500 - 3500, you are going to be out hauled, out towed, out rode, and out classed by this new Toyota. If that weren't bad enough- add on:
Out run.
Out braked (Just a guess, but will probably be true)
Out handled.
Better resale..
It still won't "dethrone" Ford as the best-selling truck (Only because Toyota doesn't do fleet sales, yet.)
The F-150 is still a super-nice truck, but the bar has been raised- significantly... From where I sit, there are only two automakers ballsy enough to challenge the new Tundra with their upcoming designs...
Nissan's 2nd Gen Titan and Dodge's next Ram.
The interior doesn't seem any nicer than the F-150's (both of which deserve high praise). One won't know for sure until the leather is actually sampled...
For me:
Exterior styling:
Ford: 10
Toyota: 9
Interior Styling:
Ford: 10
Toyota: 10
Engine:
Ford: 7
Toyota: 10
Capability: (On Paper anyway)
Ford: 9
Toyota: 10
Cab/Bed Configurations:
Ford: 10
Toyota: 8
Final:
Ford: 46
Toyota Tundra:47

One thing that no one has mentioned yet is the fact that it will use a timing belt. Also, the 4.7L is an interference engine and I would assume that the 5.7 is a derivative of this engine much like the 4.6, 5.4 and 6.8. So that means that every 100k or so you can plan on dropping big $$$ to get it changed. Being that it is an interference engine if the belt does break valves hit pistons, parts break, broken parts score cylinder walls, heads get damaged from all the loose metal. I see this as a deal breaker on any vehicle that I would own especially when every other vehicle in this segment uses chains, which don't require maintaince.

After looking at the Toyota web site my opinion is the exterior is horrid. The front end is the worst part. From the windshield aft it gets better but the front-end god-awful.
The interior is ok at best a little better on the Limited. Did anybody notice that the radio does not match the rest of the truck? All gauges, temp controls etc are nice looking LEDs. The radio w/o Nav looks like it was lifted straight out of the 80's. It has plain tattoo green LCDs for the display yuck. The silver ***** in the center stack look out of place. The half silver, half black dash is take it or leave it. I personally would leave it. The door panels and seats remind me on an F-150, the two-part glove box is very similar to the new GM trucks. The center console looks pretty good with all of the trays.
They have come a long way from the prior generation but I don't see any thing revolutionary. It looks like they took the good ideas from everyone else and mixed them together. The only advantage that I see is the extra horsepower. In my experience the F-150 has enough power but more is always nice. What Ford needs the most is a new trans with more gears. What Ford needs the most is a new trans with more gears. Lower 1st and 2nd gears would do wonders for the F-150.

No this engine uses a chain.

This is not the end of Toyota's plans for the Tundra either....
Historically speaking when they want to start selling in a market segment they are "relentless" in their pursuit. Other variants of the Tundra to come in the next few years....
-Diesel powertrain. Engine source not established yet. Possible options with Cummins but also looking at Hino engines as well as other Toyota diesel powerplants.
-Hybrid version. This will be similar to that being launched on the new Lexus LS600h. Basically gobbs of power with the fuel efficiency of a big V6. Check this out as a benchmark. http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/354/C7401/
-3/4 Ton version
-1 Ton Dually version
They have their sites on this market and they won't stop till they dominate. Best that Ford, GM and Dodge can do is try to hold them off. How long they can they do this....all depends on them and if they get off their butts to make some big changes....soon.
