Class Reunions

Anyone ever go to a class reunion? I got an invitation to my 10 yr reunion they are having in June. My wife thought we should go(She never went to this school, she lived in Maine) until she saw they were charging all former classmates $75 dollars and another $75 for any guests that come. Plus there are other fees. And that is if we prepay. Tickets at the event are close to $100 a person. They are having it at a very expensive restaurant on the St Johns River and then they are going to a very upscale club on the other side of the river. That entry fee does not include any "adult beverages"

I would have figured that a Reunion either would have been free or done as a donation type of thing.

There are plenty of places they could have had a reunion that would have been a lot cheaper. I know I won't be attending because I have much better uses for my money than to pay to go see people I didn't like in the first place.

I've heard that for our 10th reunion it's being held at the local country club for $75 a person. I wasn't really planning on going, not I know I'm not. There's a reason I haven't seen these people for 10 years, I never hung out with them in the first place. So why am I going to spend $75+ to see people I don't give a damn about?

Got to agree with you I went to my 10yr 7 yrs ago what a waste of time. Unless there is someone you want to see I wouldn't bother. JMO

I don't have any plans on going to any of my reunions. The people I want to see from high school, I usually talk to them on a semi-daily basis, they're all that matters.

I went to my 10 year reunion and had a great time. It probably cost about 100 dollars for my wife and I to go and that really just included dinner on Saturday night with no alcohol included. People that want to go back and see old friends probably won't mind paying.

I grew up in a small town where everyone knew each other so I wanted to go back to see my friends. It does cost money to have a high school reunion if you are going to eat dinner and have some kind of party. I am sure they could have hosted it at Mcdonald's and hung out in the parking lots like in high school, but I appreciated it being a little nicer.

I did have a great time and look forward to going to my 20th reunion.

Both hubby's & my 10 year reunions were about $100 a couple for dinner & drinks (soda & adult beverages). I guess it helps that we grew up in an area of penny pinching drunkards.

A bunch of people at ours ended up chipping in some cash and bought a bunch of 30 packs and just put them out at the dinner so that people could have a good time. It just wouldn't have been a high school reunion without a little alcohol there.

That's exactly how I see it. I already know everyone I want to know from HS.

I haven't gone to any of mine. I didn't care for most of them while they were there.

Went to my 10th, it was fun in a way. I got to know a few people I didn't really know that well in school. The worst part of it was all ones who were still living in my hometown, they all acted kinda like we were still in high school, it was sad in a way. Didn't make it to my 20th, we were on our way to Alaska the weekend it was held. I think I'll try for the 30th, by then some of the folks may have actually grown up a bit!!

My 40th HS reunion is coming up this Summer in Ft Lauderdale. No plans to go.

Having too much fun living in the present to have any interest in the past.

At my 10th year reunion people seemed to be too focused on impressing others and many of them seemed so phony, a few more reunions and people finally seem more comfortable with themselves and who they really are, then it swings to where I am ~ who cares what people I knew 40 years ago and haven't seen for 30 years think about me?

We usually spend two weeks each Summer at a beachfront condo in SC, and that sure isn't worth cancelling to go to any 40th HS reunion.

I've got my 10th coming up very soon and this reason right here is why I'm pretty sure I'm not going. There where too many people like this back then and I'd be willing to bet they're still like that. I hung out with people a yr or two older than me anyways.
