Not because you are a Gringo (not to be racial) that means that they want to steal your truck!!

I am from Monterrey (3 hours from the border) but i am U.S. citizen. I used to work in Dallas and travel alot from US to Mexico. Mexico can be as dangerous/safer as US.

I have an 04 f150 (american truck) and never had a problem in Mexico,(nice and bad areas) I have DVD, KICKER SUBS, ROCKFORD POWER AMP, INFINITY SPEAKES, BULL BAR, PIAA FOG LIGTHS ETC...) and never had a problem! don't be afraid!!!! actually in Dallas in front of my office (in one of the best places in Dallas, Plano) somebody stealed my audio sound!! with alarm!!!!

If you are taking your truck to Mexico you need your driver license and your title (under your name) you need a permit to drive your truck inside Mexico (you do not need a passport by land only your birth certificate) I do this all the time! In the truck permit place there are insurance companies or you can call your US insurance and some of them cover in Mexico.

The fuse is a funny thing jajajaj if you have an alarm that is fine. do not waste your time!

People in Mexico usually drive terrible!!! (that is true) but in New York or Spain drive worst!!!!! believe me!! is not that bad. If you travel with mexicans is better you will not get lost (like all countries in the world).

In Mexico somethimes they steal side mirrors but you just need to buy a "mirror lock" for 20 dlls. but in not that common.

Have fun in Mexico!!!

PD: I really have an 04 F150 not a donkey and I really wear a cap not a mexican sombrero, and people do not seat next to a cactus!!

Who's jajaja?

if you don't have the title then take with you the tax payment/registration, you do not need the permit if you are going to stay in the border (30 km from us) but if you go further then you need the permit.

Ok, Ok, I graduated from UofA Tucson AZ.. So I have been to Rocky point many many times.

You don't need a passport or visa to get into rocky point, its considered part of the "freezone". I do recommend getting insurance just because if you get pulled over they will ask you for it. But if you do have insurance it won't be much help if your in an accident. On the paper work you have to take it to a shop in mexico. if you report the accident after leaving mexico the insurance is null and void. So unless you speak spanish well- the insurance would help for ish. Check the internet for more info also.

When driving I always tried to stay with the pack. Try not to get separated from people- safety in numbers. I tried not to go over the speed limit to much but the roads are wide open. If you do get pulled over just stay calm. They will give you some outrages amount to pay and say I only have 60 bucks is there anyway we can take care of this here.. the police will say that they have to take your liscense to the court untill you pay the fine.. They take your liscense you can't get back across.. The police are always willing to exchange money for the fine 60 bucks to 80 should be just fine. But remember staying with the pack helps you avoid getting singled out.

On getting gas.. In Mexico all the gas stations are owned by the government. and the workers pump the gas-- YOU DON'T PUMP. So don't get out they don't like that. If your just going to Rocky point fill up before you cross the border (there is a chevron around there) and you shouldn't have to fill up again. Once your in Rocky point depending on were you stay? you might not have to drive again.

Don't be a retard and drive you truck into the ocean I know it looks cool but the cops will arrest you or ticket you if they catch you. I know happened to my buddies. I wouldn't worry to much about them breaking into your truck I have never had a problem with that or anyone else I know- but I did always arm the alarm and check on it everyday, also make sure its parked in a safe spot. If going with others try to get everyone parked close together so its harder to get into the vehicles.

The main problem is with the drive, even though I haven't had any problems a group of girls I know once got pulled over by the feds (in there Hummer with Ak-47's) and were basically robbed of 300 dollars. But they were driving by themselves.

So stay with the pack. Us Americans are stronger together then alone. Don't drink the water- and when you get a mixed drink down it quickly to avoid the ice. Watch for the crazy locals they can do what they want without fear of arrest. Fortunalty inside the clubs the locals aren't welcomed. Also bring water- all they sell is beer (ha ha). Fill up with gas before entering. Also watch for horses- one time a crazy horse ran at my buddies car and almost caused a massive 5 car crash he had to go offroad at 80mph in a neon to avoid the horse.

Money rules in Rocky point so have extra cash hidden on you. Just in case the feds want to mess with you.

And HAVE FUN.

There we go that makes me feel better and everything you said is stuff I always hear. Dont drink the water, travel in a group, dont stop unless the car has police light, have cash and a mexican speaker, Dont be stupid, avoid the locals selling drugs or offering sex, they will stab you, have cash, and be smart. Any one else going down not next week but the weekend after? A group of girls also our seinor year got pulled over and hasseled, at like gun point luckly none were taken advantage of but they lost money. Shoot they could have my truck befor they touched my girlfrind though, money is only money compaired to what they could have done a group of girls alone. I am both ways, Ive always had to work when my friends go down so I am a little worried being the first time and taking my truck. I have heard both stories best time ever and no worries about going down then you hear the storys of being robbed or other bad stuff so it is 50/50. last time my friend had his jeep stolen with all their cloths and eveything in it, the cops said jeeps are always gettting stolen there though because they are so easy to take esp. older ones like my buddys. The cop said most of the times the theivs have a jeep key that will work so they dont even have to hot wire it, they just have a master jeep key for old jeeps,so they are a hot target.

I think I'll pass. Seriously, what a $@*% up place to be.

I don't know what I was thinking. I went on a cruise to Mexico spring break the other year, had a BLAST but I was on the ship most of the time. They sold me beer so I wasn't complaining, the locals seemed great where I went but it's a tourist town. Just stick with your boys, keep that in mind. Please don't bring your truck, the police don't seem like police at all.

not everyone will rent a car to go to Mexico and if they do you have to be at least 25 even then they charge you alot more then usual. I forgot to mention that I wouldn't get the gas there I don't think its up to the standards of american gas.

I always had fun when in rocky point. It usually took me a couple of hours to get over the drive- but after surviving it- my attitude lightened up. They all sell drugs down there. I haven't seen to many prostitutes in Rocky point I don't remember if there was even a nudy bar. Once you get there find out were the wet T-shirt contest are then schedual your day around that.

What part of Rocky point are you going to and were you staying. I only ask cause some areas are better then others- there is even gated housing which is cool but far from the clubs- also more expensive.

Here's a tip...leave your F150 at home...if you want a truck to drive down there...rent a Dodge Ram. Dime a dozen down there, they won't even pay attention to it unless it's all pimped out.

Extreme, you live in PHX. Would you leave your truck parked unattended, overnight, locked with the keys on the dash on 12th St. and Southern? Or even on Central and the Salt River bottom? If the answer is no, leave your truck at home. It looks like a nice truck. I am working downtown right now on 3rd ave and Lincoln and I park my truck within sight.
BTW I live in Chandler around Warner and the 101. I dont think I have noticed your truck before. I will keep my eyes open. I will give you a honk and a wave if I see you around.

Wow.. didn't know I live on a chaotic and insecure country...,
My truck must be fugly as no one has stolen it yet.

hmm.., maybe is my lifestyle as I don't use to go out at night too much.

I'm in Mexico at the Border with TX, one day I was on the US side and I spoted a newpaper cover that said "Reynosa under siege!!".. wait, what?? where?, no one told us nothing (/sarcasm)... US newspapers where really making a lot of noise.
Anyway.., I think is dangerous anywhere.., in this case, instead of going to your local insecure places.., your going to other city's dangerous places.

Just take precautions, make it difficult, as I think anyone looking to steal something is going to choose first the easy ones.

wait..., do some people in the US still believes we are like Speedy Gonzalez?? ha ha.. oh well. Maybe in some microscopycal regions, not in the cities.
In my little town called Reynosa we have Internet since 1995, I was a web Database developer and designer... now a Businessman hosting(web) more than 160 local companies and still growing. I think 2007 is looking great for Mexico's businesses and economy(for those who like to work and grow). A lot of my customers are certified companies on worldwide Quality standards.

who's JAJAJAJ!!!
That means "Ha ha ha!!!"

Salutes to all

Giorgio, I have only been to Mexico twice and both times within 5 min I was offered hookers drugs meds and tons of chicle. I was also chased down by people trying to sell me (knock off anything they could find) merchandise. I do think that alot of Mexico is crazy. Mainly the parts such as Rocky Point during spring break where people can pray on drunk college kids and steal their stuff.
