Targeted by Toyota

I think as a Ford Truck owner, I have been Tageted by Toyota. The past two days I have received Mail from Toyota about the Tundra adressed to me and not current resident, none of my neighbors recieved anything. Yesterday's was a 1500 trade coupon telling me to trade my truck (how the frick do they know I have a truck) and they would give me 1500.00. Today I got a Tundra magazine with my name and a customer number. I have not filled out anything with my name and adress in quite a while, any thing consumer wise or vehicle wise. I go by my middle name and this stuff was adressed to me by my first name. I sure would like to know how they got my name and why they targetted me. I called my local Ford dealer and asked if anyone else had brought up the same thing, I was the first, but they were very interested.

Anyone else get this crap in the mail?

When I was stationed in NC, I used to get all kinds of stuff from Toyota too. Maybe they can access new vehicle registrations or something.

You probably bought something from a truck accessory place like Stylin' Concepts or somewhere then they sold your name and contact info to Toyota....very common.

Yeah actually, but it's not just you. In case you haven't noticed, Toyota has been going after Ford and Chevy owners in a big way in their ad campaigns lately. I got a personalized invitation to this big rally the local dealership is having for the new tundra this weekend, and I have never even been to the place, or even considered buying a Toyota for that matter.

A friend of mine picked one up recently, and while I like the design aspects of it that reminded me of my F-150 (a little too much, actually, which I doubt is a coincidence) all in all I wasn't really impressed. The interior just looks so cheap, which is a common bone to pick I have with most imports. They still haven't beefed up the front end, and I would hate to be in a head on in one. To each his own I guess, but honestly I like the new GMC's better. Not much changed with the '07 F-series, so I feel the same about it as I do my '05.

Car and Driver actually dissed on the new F-series' bed depth though in their last issue. They complained that it was hard to reach over the bed and get things in and out of it. While sometimes I do miss the steps in my old flareside, considering I actually use my truck bed to *gasp* haul things, I have appreciated the added depth since the day I drove it off the lot.

All those mags diss on Ford, or anything American for that matter all day long. I take what they say with a BAG of salt.

As for asian girls being hot? Ew. Not my cup of tea. To quote babel, I'll stay away from those "hairy monsters."

1945 called, they want their slang back.

I've said this in the other Toyota threads it's no secret that they've set their sights on Ford. That's what happens when your #1, you have a bullseye painted on you and everyone wants your spot.

My truck is bone stock except for a spray in bed liner, I paid cash and used my middle name. I do have an edge, I bought several months ago but I think I used my middle name too. I bet these fiends ran a credit check on me too!

Sorry but if Toyota could still build in Japan and turn more of a profit than here in the U.S they would still be there. Regardless, Ford supports 105,000 U.S jobs compared to the 32,000 jobs Toyota creates for U.S. citizens.
