Saleen F-150

While at the lot to take care of the Fusion (Dent in the Armor) I noticed this beast on the lot. One of 2.

This one was the full beast, 450 HP Supercharged 5.4L F-150 ($60,000). Next to it is the Harley Davidson F-150 SuperCrew, and on the other side of it is the all show, no go Variant of the Saleen F-150 ($46,000). It looks almost identical, except the hood is different- lacking the Supercharged variants functional hood scoop.

The pics are crappy, as they were taken with my Treo 650, but- good enough for you to get an idea..

Saleen F-150 is sitting on 285/45/23's, the HD next to it is sitting on 22's.

I think it looks pretty good.

Not $60,000 good though. Plus being it's Saleen, it's probably gonna blow up before it reaches it's first service mileage.

Getting a test drive in a Saleen is like that scene in the movie Clear and Presnt Damage.

Me: Is this car for sale?
Them: Yes.
Me: Well, before I buy it, i'd like to take it for a test drive.
Them: Of course, you'll just need to leave a deposit.
Me: How much?
Them: Sixty-thousand Dollars.
Me: Well, do you rent them out instead?
Them: Yes, we do.
Me: How much is that?
Them: Sixty-thousand dollars.

They even go so far as to let the would-be purchaser know how many miles the truck had on it, when they shipped it.

I'd disagree, its a S331, and not a S7.

I might pay the $45,000 for a supercharged version. At $60,000 now your talking a 335i w/ aftermarket upgrades (and still room to spare) turning it into a 4.5 sec to 60 monster. Sure the bimmer can't haul a load of gravel but who dumps a load of gravel into a $60,000 street truck anyway?

I've never worked on an S7 before, but the tuning on S281s was awful. For whatever reason, they'd go way lean at WOT, burning plugs and valves and blowing holes in pistons. Saleen of course said it was the owner's fault, and their tech support for dealers sucks.

Wow, and I came "this" close to buying an S281 back in 2000.

Well, there was another one two trucks over, that wasn't supercharged. Looked identical on the outide, with the exception of the scoopless hood, for $46,000. About the price of a King Ranch.

If I pay $46,000- It's have to be a SuperCrew- and, it woudl have to be a 2008, King Ranch F-250.

That is one nice truck.

The price seems right on par with all the other "unobtanium" that automakers parade on the market to get us to purchase the basic versions of their vehicles.

I don't know how many of you are familliar with the band Porno for Pyros. They have a song Cursed Male. It goes like this:

All the guys
That really have the money
Are too old
To have a good time with it
All the guys
That really have the money
Are too old
To have a good time with it
Too old to turn the women on
Too old to have a fast car and drive it
All the guys
That really have the money
Are too old
To have a good time with it
All the guys
That really have the money
Are too old
To party or get dirty
Too old to turn the women on
Too old to have a fast car and drive it

...and I believe it's appropriate.

yeah but the saleen is just a few "bolt on" items... now if they made the frame out of aluminum or something that a normal person cant just buy off the internet and install it in a weekend.... then it might be worth 60,000
