After a year and a Half, the 06 2500 Ram with the hemi and 6sp went to the dodge doctor for a cruse control issue...

50,000 miles on it now average mpg is up to 23mp at 60 mph

06 2500 reg cab 4x4 6sp 373 ltd slip..

truck is not geared for drag racing, stock my 04 f-150 was faster and used a lot more gas.

Most impressed with the hemi, the rest of the truck, is basicly average

A co-worker friend of mine has a Dodge Quad Cab Hemi, 2006. I am not crazy with the looks, build quality, the front suspension is archaic compared to my F-150! The rear doors are tiny, with no space in the rear! Interior is typical DODGE CHEAP! I'll keep my F-150 SCREW thank you!..................

honestly, I think your post is just about completely backwards. I have 2 good buddies who have an 03 and 06 4x4 hemi ram quad cabs. the 03 my was bought used at 80km or 50miles. he now has 140km or 85miles. He has replaced the power steering pump, front diff, and intake manifold that blew up. this all happened in about the first 35km's he owned it. He has been satisfied since hen but chit thats some major repairs. and they wouldn't warranty anything. He gets 18mpg tops and thats imperial gallons, 4.54L as opposed to 3.78L which is the U.S. gallon

the 06 was bought brand new. He has had alot of troubles with the front end. He had to have the front totally replaced 5 times in the first 30,000km`s. He also gets brutal mileage. About 15 TOPS. he just ordered an 08 f150 and will be here in january

also both the hemis would chew on my f150 when i was stock. i now have intake exhaust efans and troyer tunes on 91 perf with 32s and run really close to them, the one has intake exhaust and superchips on 91 with 33s.

also whats the deal with putting the fuel filter inside the gas tank?

It seems some guys swear by them and some swear at them. They are all my uncle will own for a truck and he seems to have pretty good luck with them, he has a '84 for a beater farm truck, and traded a 2wd '94 for a '99 4x4 for a good truck.

I liked their styling until they goofed the headlights up a couple years ago. Personally I wouldn't own one without a Cummins in it though...

Ditto on that one.

I don't know... my Dakota has given me a break compared to my Fords... The only Ford I had break down on me was my Escape... but that thing was a royal POS... a royal one at that, to say the least.

Both of my F150s have never, ever left me stranded.. unlike those 6+ times with my Escape. I would have been better off buring a rat car than spending the money on that Escape.... and that is not a lie my friends, not a lie.

However, in a shadetree mechanic sense of the terms... the Dodges are easy to fix... at least from my Dakota's standpoint. Even though they shoehorned a v8 in a Dakota... they thought of the easiest method to fix components. Even by looking in the service manual... most items have less than 10 steps. Compared to Ford's service manual, where it's an average of 15 steps or less.

So I'm not sure... I am not dissing Dodge, and it isn't because I own one... it's more like Dodge has their problems, and Ford has theirs... and it is just like me trying to get a stick in a v8 these days in a small truck. I can't get all my needs and wants... that's for damn sure.

THe idea is not new to Dodge...

they built a thing called the ramapage back in the 80's a FWD daytona/charger with a box. Volkswagon did the same with the Rabbit.

And the mpg with the mods I have done is correct, the +, is truck is a 2500 reg cab, 4x4 373 LTD slip ,,, mega and quad cabs are not great milage wise with the hemi, saving grace is the 6sp manual 1750RPM at 60 mph and I have a topper.

The five spped automatics with Dodge still have issues and I'm the first to admit I hate the looks of the Ram, I'm poor and have to settle for the best bank for the buck.

an older brother of mine about 6 months ago brought a 2007 Dodge 2500 Mega Cab with the gas engine after his lease was up on the 05 F-150 he had.

I can't count how many times his Dodge 2500 has been in the shop now. He regrets trading a Ford in for a Dodge, so after this lease is up on the 2500 Dodge, he is gonna go back to Ford, hopefully a f-250.

I guess u will never know how good an F-series truck in until u buy a Dodge, they say most Dodge owners are Frist time buyers as they don't realize what a hunk of junk Dodge trucks are compared to Fords and even Chevy's for that matter.

One more thing to add about the 07 Dodge 2500 mega cab. What the hell kinda frame does it have? a toothpick? The damn truck flexes more then any other truck I have ever seen in my life! 2 windows in the rear of the 2500 needed to be replaced already from being shattered from the frame flexing severely on the job site.

I guess u lean by ur mistakes, don't by a Dodge!

P.S... the mini diplay on the truck reads 11.1 mpg FOR THE AVERAGE! No way in hell would this truck get more then 15mpg, let alone 23
