Finally...almost a homeowner!

This has been dragged out for about 3 yrs now...looking, not looking, getting disgusted and looking more...today's finally here! A garage with a house attached Sometime this afternoon I should be getting keys in my hand. Intestinal fortitude...the time getting ready for closing process has driven me nuts for the past few weeks since the offer was made. Seemed like as soon as I pulled one foot out of a hole the other fell right into a another. Now my head is spinning in 90 directions trying to decide what to do first, it's going to be an adventure. I think I'll be up to my ears doing wood work for the next year. Can't wait to pull the truck in the garage and get started!

Just breathe it will be okay. You'll be fine. As for projects around the house, take your time. It doesn't have to be done in the first year. Whats the hurry? Don't burn yourself out. Enjoy your home and take your time with it. If you try to do everything in the first year you will probably go broke.

Save some money for the unexpected expenses!

Congrats on the house but 3 years?!! I'd have gone crazy with that search. We found our house, made the offer, closed and moved in in the space of 3 months...and I thought that was a long time!!!

Yep, three yrs, but not 3 straight years. Long story of starting out with the wrong agent, too narrow of an area, not finding something in my price range and getting discouraged which lead to just kinda looking. Then there were SO issues occurring as well. Got all that ironed out and then I got a nice little raise and promotion. We were going to sit on that a bit to save more and then the water came at the end of May, 24" of it in the basement and garage. That was the tipping point, it was time to kick it into high gear and we found this one late in July.

Artic...I been trying to explain that to her...she thought we'd have it set up in 3 weeks, "just paint it". HA! Years, baby, years! I'm going to take my time and try to do everything right the first time. If it takes 7 yrs, so be it I'm pretty much done modding the truck, I just need to avoid finding a Mustang to play with.

Congratulations on your new home. Make installing some quality door locks your first home improvement.

And I agree with Arctic Cat, leave some money in the bank for "the unexpected".
