Is it alright to.....

...eat soup straight from the can?

If I pop the top, grab a spoon, and I eat the soup straight from the can ... is that ok, or will one get sick?

Kinda hard to fire up the microwave when your out on a bass boat and it's lunch time.

It's fine. They don't recommend storing food in cans once it has been opened. I've been doing it for years and it hasn't effected me

Its fine. It's all precooked anyways.

Put the soup in a thermos. Thats what I would do. That way it stays warm all day.

I use to cook soup in a can. On the railroad we would put a can ov soup on the 'cooker' in the locomotives water cooler and by lunch time it was ready to go!

I would recommend rinsing off at least the top of the can and putting them in a plastic bag before you head out.

Cooking heat kills some bacteria.

I'd hate to think of that can rolling around the hull with your used bait and whatnot then you pop the top and drop it in your soup, shrug and say,
"What the heck, the fella's said it was alright."

Use the plastic bag for trash and fer cryin' out loud, take a garden hose to that hull.

(Normally a short reply is all that's needed but, this is Jamzwayne)

Since you've resorted to all out detail, the lid shoud be opened up prior to heating. Can you say BOOM? Also, the lid may then be utilized as a holder for taking the can off the heat source.

He's not cooking.

I mentioned that as a byproduct of cooking.
And without cooking, some other safeguards should be in place.

He didn't mention anything about whether this can will be heated up or not. All he said is that he'll be eating out of the can.

I just assumed he'll have a lil heater on the boat, or a stove of some sort. Otherwise, ewwwww!

I assumed when he mentioned microwave he meant no heating at all.

I just don't want the can to fall overboard then he fishes it out and ends up with a Naegleria fowleri up his nose.

You're right, I could have been more specific.
