Umm.. no... That SVT shop isn't a large scale operation.. it's basically Ford's little custom operation.. So they put the 100 or so people in that shop to work on the GT500.. that thing is done now.. so let's HOPE that Mr. Mullaly allows them to get back to work on Lightnings and 'Stangs!!

I know that ford shut down SVT. Most of the engineers no longer work for ford. Even most of top management has been disbanded and gone elswhere.

I don't think there were too many customers that went to the dealership and couldn't make up there mind. ("Oh I just cant decide, should I get the GT500, or the Lightning?")

NO, the GT500 isn't "officially" an SVT vehicle.. there's certainly no SVT badge on the thing..

However, if you've ever read any car mag at all in the past 4 years or so it's been widely reported that Ford stopped SVT work on Mustangs, Lightnings, freakin' FOCUS'S, for God's sake.. to put all those skills into the GT500..

Don't get me wrong, I've seen and heard a couple of GT500's up close.. best looking, best sounding cars I've ever seen or heard!!.. Ferrari's, Lambo's included... Thanks to the SVT I'm damn sure!

Now, hopefully, they'll be able to turn their attention back to the F150 and Mustang.. It's been toooooo long!!!!!!

Actually I believe it was the Ford GT that killed SVT. They put ALOT of their recources into that car and sold it for "cheap". Then when they threw the GT500 together it was a bit of a last ditch effort.

Yes, btw, I KNOW the GT500 was designed/engineered by SVT, hence the reason I would remove all of the Shelby BS and replace it with SVT.

And the reason for your statement is, noob? Listen, this ins't the late 1960s anymore. Drop the old stuff already. Just because you're trying to relive your childhood with some "retro" styling and "retro" badging doesn't make it cool.

Most people are buying these cars because of the name Shelby, even though SVT designed and engineered the car. If you're calling me a dumbass because I would remove the Shelby badging and replace it with SVT badging then the jokes on you. Shelby had nothing to do with the car.

No S---. I know they designed and engineered the car, what irks me is the fact that its covered in Shelby badging.

The 2005 Shelby GT500 should have been called the 2005 SVT Cobra.

Much like the new 2008 Shelby GT500KR should have been called the 2008 SVT Cobra R.
