First, 5k is what,.......about 3.? miles? I guarantee that any soccer player worth anything could run that at a fairly quick pace and not even breathe hard. I played soccer for 12 years and I promise you that the people who stuck w/ it for that long could easily run much more than that. So any soccer player playing at the college level or profesional level is in exceptional condition and would laugh at your comment about them not being able to run 5k.

A 6 minute mile isn't exactly lightning fast. I can do it, as can most people running track or anybody else who gets their butt off the couch and exercises. When I ran track way back in high school I was running 10 1/2 to 11 minutes in the 2 mile and I didn't win every race. When I was in the military, again, I was running 10 1/2 to 11 minutes for 2 miles. I still exercise fairly regularly and feel confident I could still do it today.

They are all combined in to that form of Football, Basketball, and Baseball type sports. Same goes for pole-vaulting, discus, hammer, and javeline. Just poor excuses to hang out with the true stars, the runners.
You dont call sprinting, running? Are you serious? I'm not a sprinter, but sprinting is running, and (good) sprinters are exceptional athletes.

Are you really in college? That's what I find the most difficult thing to believe in this entire thread

Nope.

MMA is the only REAL sport left in this country.

continued aerobic conditioning such as long distance running is not the true measure of an athlete. long distance running is basically training your body to do one thing and one thing only over the course of hours. long distance running actually causes your body to breakdown muscle tissue to use as fuel. your typical long distance runner is a waifish, physically weak person that seriously looks like he needs to eat something. put them in a weight room against a sprinter and you will see first hand just how strong a distance runner is, put them against a sprinter and you will see just how much power they have, put them against a sprinter near the pool and see who the women would rather look at.

now, i'm not cracking on long distance runners, my father used to be one, i'm just merely stating the obvious facts here. just because you can run 10miles at a stretch, does not mean you are the best athlete. you have stamina, but you do not have strength, you do not have power and you have lower than normal testosterone levels because you have signifigantly less muscle mass. mix in 150 more grams of protein and hit the weights because when you get older, your arthritic knees will leave you stuck in a chair while your body wastes away.
