Not true. Just depends on the game. Consoles suck compared to PC's at FPS games, but others the consoles whoop the crap out of the PC. That's why I have both.

I've got GHII, GH80's and GHIII and love them all. My wife and I play GHIII on battle mode and talk crap and elbow one another all the way through. Loads of fun.

My brother in law has played the guitar forever and can play most anything by ear as well. He scoffed at us buying GH. I forced the controller into his hands and just like said above, he was having a hard time with it because lots of notes were missing. Bump him up a level or two and he was rocking the game and having a ball. He commented that his rommate has it and he'd never even wanted to try it. He went straight home and started playing and is a fan now.

I've since picked up a real guitar and amp and have started playing. I suck, but I'm working on the basics and having fun with it. When I play GH I try to make it a practice session and keep the proper fingering positions and such when playing.

Playing on expert mode does not at all help you play the real guitar. Like i said before it helps with dexterity (finger movment). I play the real guitar and i love to play GH3 and Rock band. Both have never helped me play at all, but after playing a few songs you can definately feel that your fingers are "loose". Think of it as warming up your legs for a race.

Kinda not playing it much tho right now, need to wait for my new vid card so i can actually play it cuz sometimes it is too choppy to play.
Dude, I look like a monkey trying to screw a football playing Guitar Hero. I just got no coordination for it. :o

I can't play beyond hard mode, but this above is true. GH is like playing a single string guitar with only five frets. Real guitar is a tad more complicated. There's some basics you can take from GH but it's not going to teach you to play the guitar. I think playing GH will help you translate to the guitar if your reading tab, because tab only shows you which notes to use, not timing or anything so you kind of have to know how the song goes to play the tab music. But I wouldn't expect anything more than that to come from playing GH. Well, aside from having a heck of a good time playing it!

HOLY CRAP! That kid is amazing. Both of my nephew's got that game this year. I am addicted. Hubby said he'll get it for me for my bday. hahaha It's funny because I can't play the real guitar for sh#t, but I can play the piano. I've always been told if you can do one you can do the other. Nope! My left hand doesn't twist right. Oh well, I love the video game!

Damn dude....Nice friggin' rig.

Yeah, a PC can be an awesome gaming machine, but it seems like drivers updates, software updates, patches, etc seem to be a pain in the *** to me if I just want to hit power, and play a game. I don't want to upgrade my graphics card, I don't have the money, I don't want to spend time on a forum looking for patch updates, I want to play my game.

Now, that doesn't happen often, but when it does....time to break out the check book, and head over to PC Warehouse to get SOMETHING for my box. ... whereas with a console, I can just have it replaced or buy a new one. The PC screws up more often than a console. I play some PC games, I can sit in front of my monitor for hours playing Mythos....when the servers aren't acting up.

I didn't mean that a PC doesn't have the power and graphics that a console has...that would be an insane thing to say.

I mean as far as convenience.

PC = PITA
Console = not a PITA

Jamz, you don't have to do anything to a PC, just turn it on and play it. Just like you do your console, just never upgrade it. Problem is, a in 2010, your games will look just like they did in 2007, just like the games on your console. Consoles are only up to date and mindblowing for the first year or so they are out, then they become dated as all the new stuff on PC's blows them away. Remember when PS2 games were awesome looking and blew away PC's? Heck, I remember when I was amazed by the graphics on the NES. But soon my PC was better...because I could upgrade it. Didn't have to but I could and did. If you just want to game, then you can have it on both the console or the PC.

you should have no problem getting drivers. Drivers will take me most 5 minutes. go to the nvidia site choose your car install em then restart. Game patches and updates? Should be right on the game menu or the game website. Dont know why youd have to look through forums to get em unless you had the game illegally.

im buying more ram doubling my 1 gig to 2 gigs in a few days, then next month getting an 8800 GT 512mb card. GH3 will be better than it would on a console for me. Especially since the game looks fantastic on my monitor.
plus, there are no racing/driving simulation games for console as good as they are for PC. They make look prettier, but no more realistic.
