no kidding, dodge had a completely new truck due to the fact the previous one had the same body for around 8 years. The ford was coming off a 4 year body , they werent going to do a whole new truck. Of course a whole new truck looks more impressive than a revamped one...

That's all fine and good, but do you think anybody but a die hard Ford fan would know, or care? No. I'm not trying to slam the Ford, I've owned 5 of them, but from looks and features (on paper) I prefer the Dodge.

What I like:
  • I like the interior. The dash is a little busy, but technology isn't a challenge for me, so- I can adapt.
  • I like the tailgate step... I never get in the bed of my truck, but it's a nice edition from the SuperDuty.
  • I like the addition of the Platinum Edition. A Ford to match the GM high-class offerings, like the Denali.
  • A V8 (4.6L 2-valve) that offers MPG to match the outgoing 4.2L V6. Nice. More power in the 4.6L and 5.4L.
  • I like the grill.
  • I like the headlights- They remind me of those on the Edge.
  • I like knowing the SuperCrew's cab is larger. I thought it was bigger anyway than the 2001 -2003 SuperCrew variant, but it was smaller than that of the Extendo Ram, and the 2007 Tundra CrewMax. Ford stepped up.
  • A 700-watt 10-speaker Sony system in the F-150?! How cool is that?!
-------------------------------

What I don't like:
  • The 2009 F-150, overall is (in my opinion) evolution rather than revolution. It looks a LOT like the current model (Just like Ford did with the Expedition between 2006 and 2007).
  • All they really seem to have done, was rework the central dash stack (Because the rest of the dash looks very similar), rework the front clip, slip in some cool electronics, and a few features from the (similiar similar to the previous model) SuperDuties) and call it a day. A Porsche 911 and a 280Z maybe timeless, but not much else is.
================

2009 Dodge Ram

Anyone notice that new Ram? Damn, that's sweet. The F-150 is prettier, but the Ram looks solid. Factory Nav, and an ALPINE stereo system?! Say What?!

In the end, I think the F-150 will beat the Ram if they face off in Motor Trends Truck of the Year competition, because visually, the 150 is prettier. But, as far as a work package- I think the Ram is more work friendly, with its built in small item bed security.

The "2004" may only be 4 years old, with regard to the span between 2004 and 2008.

However, the 2004 has really been around since the 3rd quarter (if not the halfway mark) of 2003.

So, it's been on the ground for:
  1. 2003*
  2. 2004
  3. 2005
  4. 2006
  5. 2007
  6. 2008*

*- The 2009 will probably be on the ground in mid 2008, but still...

It's been around 5 years, going on 6. I don't Think Ford would have dropped this truck in 2009, were it not for some nice trucks being put on the road by GM & Toyota, a new Dodge looming, and the uncertainty surrounding Nissan.

Sorry, just too much info here to read.

I really like the new F150, and agree it appears more evolution, but am I seeing this right??? Did they screw me over again? Is there really no regular cab for 2009? If so, I'll be looking for a Gen II L or a new Dodge or GMC... I can't stand those cheesy doors...

awating the following replies to this post:

1. Your nothing but a troll!

2. Why are you even here?

3. Go away!

This isn't a slam on you Kamikaze, I couldn't agree more with your comments.

I have no problem being the whipping boy for the crybabies.

Back on topic, any word or links for the motors?

I don't really like the exterior, but I havent really liked any new trucks at first so I am sure it will grow on me. I like alot of the new features and this would probably be my next truck if I didnt want a 250.

I also thought we would have some sort of links this morning.

I hope Ford gave MT some wrong #'s....

I think it will come down to which manufacturer wants to open their wallets more.

It's funny that you said that. I was reading online a few days ago that the F150 is in the top 10 for overpriced vehicles.

I read that article from Forbes magazine also. I think the Ram was also in that list also...

to each their own, i personally thought the 08 f150 was the best looking truck on the market with the weakest engine options.

to me ford should have come up with a tire and rim package, maybe some new paint colors and spent the rest of the time coming up with a better engine option.

looks liek dodge cam up with another 35 hp, wonder what the 09 fords will be rated at.

why offer a 2v and a 3v 4.6 in all the threads on this sight i have yet to see a poster say, the 4.6 is not enough, but the 5.4 is too much.

Four of the Five Ford Trucks we've owned were powered by the 4.6L. Thinking I was missing something (from how much the 5.4L is raved about here), I got the 5.4L in my 2003 Expedition. I gotta tell ya, I never felt my 4.6L's were underpowered, and was never impressed by the extra 30 ponies and 50-60 lb./ft. from the 5.4L.

The only thing I've found myself continually impressed over from Ford year over year, is how they seem to make the steering feel better and better. My 1999 F-150 and my 2000 Expedition, felt downright "soupy" in the steering wheel, compared to the 2001 and the 2003. The 2006 feels as tight as, if not tighter than the 2003. My 2007 Edge feels even tighter and sportier than the steering did in my Acura.

Ford must have gone to the BMW School of Driving and Steering Dynamics. I like what I'm feeling, in terms of Ford's being connected to the road.
