Pyramid Opportunities: ACN, Pre-Paid Legal, etc

What do you know of the companies above. ACN vs Pre Paid Legal. I have buddies coming to me about both of these companies. I've attended meetings and am skeptical of everything because once you are done selling to your family and friends, it's going to be hard to convince a complete stranger of changing their phone company to one they've never heard of, or to buy a service where they question the quality of the legal assistance.

I'd like to try one or the other so I purchased Pre-Paid legal and joined many of my buddies who are excited to start. Has anyone tried either of these companies, and if they're a scam how can I explain this to my buddies in order to help them out. I've done some research but question whether the tax writeoffs and other benefits of 'owning' one of these services as a business are going to pay off.

I wouldn't touch it - a lot of my friends decided to invest a lot of time and money (I think) into this - they quit their stable and pretty good paying jobs to do the phone company b.s. full time. They tried to get everyone they knew to switch to their company, although there were a few weird clauses and restrictions that I didn't like and, as such, didn't sign up for.

Not more than a year later none of them are doing this and they all have diff. jobs, some worse than the ones they left. Honestly, I've tried a MLM / Pyramid "get rich quick" thing that costed me some good cash when I was young and naive. Save your time and money and invest in stocks, buy bonds, whatever.

In some way, shape or form I have had personal experience with Excel (long distance phone company), Equinox (health and beauty products) and BioPerformance (the magic gas pill)... I was roped into Excel in college by a buddy and my brother in law talked me into trying Bioperformance last year, but I made both of them pay the start up fee, so it cost me nothing out of pocket. My old college roommate got into Equinox.

Excel and Equinox are both bankrupt, have been for years now and I think BioPerformance still had a cease and desist order against them for the TX Attorney General last time I checked.

Sales is my life and I make a very good living at it. But, unless you get in at the ground level with these companies, and I mean within the first 6 months from when the company is created, you will almost never turn a profit and spend a lot of time, effort and money for nothing.

I STRONGLY advise against joining anything that is a Pyramid pay structure, unless you are one of the first ones to get in, and you have all the time in the world to dedicate to it.

I have family members that sell pre-paid legal but I dont need a half *** lawyer when I have trouble. I think you get what you pay for. They claim they make big money but they all have other jobs. I have heard of people quitting their jobs to sell it but everyone I know works and sells it on the side.

Maybe for someone poor that gets in trouble all the time it might work but if you use a lawyer once in a while and he cost you $1000 it might be cheaper than paying every month for something you dont use or may never use. Then when you need the lawyer you still have to pay so it dosent make good financial sense to me unless you stay in legal trouble... then when you need a good lawyer you have to use theirs and it could be anybody.

Far as selling it and making money that depends on your selling skills and the intelect of the people you rip off...er I mean sell it to.
In theory it just dosent make sense...tricking people...er I mean selling people on it may be easy.

A guy I used to work with worked for that ACN and always and I mean always tried to get me to go to a meeting with him about it (most likely because since he sent me he'd get a skim off the top of what I made) dont do it just didnt seem right and he could never give me prices on anything

A bunch of my buddies were with pre-paid legal. We would always party at this one guys house until he said "You can no longer come here if you aren't a part of Pre-Paid Legal". And actually got out application forms.

I think some people signed up, I haven't been back to that house since.

Don't do it. Your time and money would be better spent else where.
