Driveway help
I have a driveway that is approx. 8x25 or so (I don't know the exact size w/out measuring or looking at it). At one time there was some rock / gravel but now it's almost all grass / mud. What would be the most cost effective idea for fixing this? I'd assume that within 2-3 years we will pour concrete but for the time being I need something that won't break the bank and will give us some sort of footing for walking and our vehicles to not tear up too bad. We just moved into this home so right now moneys a little tight.
I was thinking of putting down a couple inches of crushed rock / gravel. Any help would be nice. Thanks all!

Start with the biggest crushed rock you can get your hands on, say 2-3" minimum nominal diameter. This will give you a good base to place a 2-4" layer of 3/4" crushed limestone as your final surface...which also will be a good base to eventually place your concrete on.
Or you can just lay the 3/4" out on the ground, but that will be gone in a couple years with use.

They can often be had at a much cheaper price than crushed stone, and with compaction and sunlight, they will give you a fairly decent surface.

And I'll look into the Typar before rock if I go that route. More than likely I will lay gravel down. Didn't know about the limestone either. Glad for the suggestions all
