for clarification, the series number (second number) is a percentage as you already know, but its not what most people think. If you took the tire, cut a section out of it and laid it out flat, then the percentage is how much is sidewall. Its kinda hard to explain, like bead/sidewall/tread/sidewall/bead both of those sidewall numbers combine for the series percentage number.

Patrick, I now have no idea why the dealer guy thought they could not get their equipment on the wheel with out scratching them, unless their equipment mounts totally different. This was a Jim Bean alighnment machine. The thing monted exterally on the edge of the wheel, dig not need to "grasp" anything. They used bunge straps to secure it to the wheel. Sure is great to not be pulling and darting around now.

As i said before, it sounded like a polite way of saying they didnt want to be liable for your wheels if they some how accidentally scratched one.

Ok I see... so in a simple way, the side that is facing out when mounted on the wheel would be 25% of the sidewall that IS showing (bead to tread). But each side combined equals 50% right?

Yep, I think you are correct. The wheels were a lot more at risk during the tire mounting than the alignment.

I got a pic of the truck on the rack when they changed out the tires, you won't believe how they had it balanced in the air. That scared me. Had a small block of 4x4 under the pumpkin.

correct its a percentage of actual rubber bead to bead across the tread, so it would be

50 series tire
outer bead
outer sidewall 25% (of the rubber bead to bead)
tread 50%
inner sidewall 25%
inner bead

40 series tire
outer bead
outer sidewall 20%
tread 60%
inner sidewall 20%
inner bead

i never knew that........ interesting, oh ya whenever i start up my truck and am real light on the gas it will bog down a few times like the engine is about to die or something or stutter and then after about 5 seconds it stops, any ideas? i hate my truck

Went on a 1 hour bike ride with my son. Lots of hills.

It's a start.

yeah good point, you could always wait until the weekend b/c i was thinkin about going down tehre and gettin my system metered anyways but i am meeting up witht he guy monday to get that girls sound deadener

fuel pump, key on for a few seconds and let the pump prime up before you start the truck.

might be time for a fuel filter as well
