My truck always responds more to changes than any trucks I hear of, so I think it is worth a try

I need to get off the couch and change my belt pretty soon. It was slipping worse when I downshifted to pass Saturday. Didn't sound like I was chirrping the tires so much. More like I was laying down a strip of rubber and that's too hard to believe at 70 mph. LOL. Need to get a Gatorback. It still looks good though, 5 years old and 102,500 miles.

Does the gatorback just prevent that squeak in the rain and have less slippage?

Its worth a try but I was also driving a heavy 4x4 so that may be the difference.

Nothing to do with the rain. The belt is slipping during hard shifts. The gatorback does not slip.

My stock belt would squeal at startup when it was humid outside, and on hard shifts. The gatorback does not do this.

jim it takes 5 minutes to change the belt out if you take the fan off. makes life so much nicer. But if you dont have the fan tool dont worry about going out of your way to get them

No, don't have a fan tool. I have never looked at it to see what it takes to do the job. I thought it was just a matter of lifting a tensioner and getting it on all the pulleys. Is it hard to get it over the fan with the shroud on there?

Using your leather belt with a buckle does not count.

its not terrible to do with the fan on, but i own the fan tool kit, so its much easier for me to grab the right tool snap the fan off and do the belt and put it back together.

I dont see a problem with that and this is in retaliaion to them listening to their stereo at all hours of the day. Mainly at 5:30 am so I cant wait until winter so I can go start the truck and kick the idle up it should whistle nicely.
