Bungee cords are your friend.

I have a hard time making friends with bungee cords.....
They're just to flexible and have elastic personalities...
Sometimes when they're stressed they snap taking you out with them.....

Glad you and your truck are alright....

Ever think about some reflectors?
The ones you can screw on or use double sided tape to affix them to the obstacles you encounter in the dark mornings when backing up.....

I agree with all those suggestions... get some reflective semi tape or whatever and run it along it.

Campus shut down early. It started snowing when I was driving the bus during my shift. I had to back one of the other drivers up after my shift because he didn't figure a turn right and there was an accident to his right rear (the guy who hit the car in front of him was in a class of mine last semester). People are just driving so reckless. I just putt along and take my time. People forget to give themselves ample stopping distance.

The storm hasn't started yet

Not real likely. This is the rent house out in the woods. Sure is dark out there! You would not believe the little trails I take the truck down. Lots of big pines, oaks, and sweet gum trees. I may tell the landlord that if he wants to protect his gates, he needs to put reflectors on them and provide bungee cords.

One road I go down is so narrow, I only use it in the dark, so I can see lights coming over the hills and around the curves. It even has a little one lane wooden bridge with no railing.

Another idea is to back the truck in when you get home at night, then you can see things better moving forward in the morning or is it to dark to back it in at night also?.....
