Ian, I have these on our house and they are well worth the money, no keys to worry about unless the battery dies and they have been on our house for four years and not once have we been left standing outside for a dead battery. I have them on the same schedule as the smoke alarms in the house whether they need to be changed or not.

I have one of those on the shop and my gun closet and I have been very happy with them. I have also thought about switching the house locks to the Schlage I lock that you can monitor over the internet.

That was also my logic as well when I ordered them and it's nice not having to fish the key out of your pocket with an arm full of groceries.
