Caught a nice 5 pounder on a white buzz bait this morning right before dawn. She was hanging around a half sunken log, I cast over it and brought it over the log and BAM there she was! Man that was exhilarating! Then caught a lot of dinks on white grubs then some good ones c-rigging drop offs. Fun day and we got off the lake before 10.

Couldn't get pics on the water because it wasn't bright enough yet. We released them into the city pond again.

Crappy iphone pics of the same fish...

I guess I shouldn't be complaining then, it's 84 here, but it's that type of heat you can't do nothing in,- without sweating a few pints anyway lol.

Thanks Ian! Sure was a fun one to catch. Found out my BPS topwater pole can handle the big ones.

Yea, if that's anything like fly fishing it's a blast, when they're hitting. Buzz bait skims or skips across the top ? Sounds like you cast that one perfect, congrats. That would be a nice one for the wall.

Yes, just like the name.

The bite for LMB this time of year shallow is in the early early morning is topwater, which is what a buxx bait is, then it is deep when it gets hotter. Was fishing 15-20 feet off ledges with Carolina rigs. You just cast them and let them sink, then drag them up the ledge. LMB tend to congregate there when the water gets hot.
