Stealth on a side note i noticed a few days ago you asking about the big socket for the hubs on our trucks. I got side tracked at that time but if you are still needing one I have one your more than welcome to borrow.

OK thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I have been trying to zero down a noise and I think I have it figured out, inner tie rods. I was thinking possibly I'd need wheel bearings but I am not thinking that now.

Make sure it's not the anchor plate bolts. It's more of a bump/angle turn rattle while slow. You'll hear at highway speeds if you hit a sharp bump. Make sure they're tight. If you loose the right when while driving, it can make a mess up there. Cost yuh a tire and rim among other things.

Yeah I'm going to get under it in the morning and once over everything. Mine is a pop/clunk while turning and entering a drive or hitting a bump. I've pinpointed it while my wife was wiggling the steering wheel while I was holding each inner tie rod, I could feel it significantly.

That might be a way to check the Tie Rods, but you can just pull on the wheel and check for play. Jacked up or not.

I did the same thing when my anchor plate became loose, - I could not find what was making that noise, -ticked me off. It finally fell out, then the brakes went TWANG when I applied them. Pulled her over right away, then nursed her home. Luckily for me it wasn't the opposite bolt. Like I said in the other post, when those fall out, you tear up the front end as soon as you hit the brakes.

You know what I'm referring to ? Need a diagram of it, I have the DVD loaded..

Here's a color photo for yuh. The red arrow is what comes loose on the other side of wheel. There's two big bolts that require allot of torque lol. You not suppose to re-use these bolts on the brakes because of this problem. Ford sells new bolts with a special type thread locker on them.

Oh alright, here's the diagram -

Yea, I went public on this site when I couldn't figure it out. I think I posted other power train because I thought it was a front end tie rod problem. The same thing happened to user DYNOTECH. Yea, it fooled me once. Stick a socket on those 4 bolts (2 per side). Check it anyway. Sounds like you may have the same thing going on.

I'll do that in the morning. I've had a rear caliper mounting bolt come off on me in my old Probe GT. The rear one came off so when I hit the brakes the caliper would drag against the outer edge of the rotor. I thought I had pads that were worn, boy was I surprised.

Yea, I know whatchuh mean lol. This is a little different. It's not the caliper bolts, it's those big heifers that require more torque than your lug nuts lol.

That's what I was talking about, caliper mounting bolts, not the slider bolts.
