If it makes you feel any better, our 5.0 N/A and S/Ced versions in the 10+ Land Rovers have 1yr 15k service intervals on Castrol SLX full synthetic 5w20

With all the sand in the air where I have to go, does not make me feel better at all. I just can't do that to an engine.

The oil we use was specifically made for our engines at the request of LR. Castrol did not make the oil until we asked them to make it and meet our demands.

Its something like 8 bucks a quart too, its good stuff. When we do the services at 10-15k miles the oil is dark but its not black at all. Im actually gonna upload a video later on tonight showcasing our oil recovery machine.

That's pretty cool that Castrol made oil to LR specs to extend oil change intervals. I hope the oil has to smells better that what comes out of a diesel, the stuff that comes out of my truck is as black as tar and reaks to high heavens by the time I get to 6500 or 7000 miles.

My 96 had a small oil leak when I first got it and by 2000 miles it would be down to the Add mark so instead of just adding a quart to it for 1000 miles I'd change the oil. I've stuck with the 2000 mile oil change ever since then. It's just easier to remember when it needs changed again.

The oil that comes out of the truck looks about the same as what I'm putting into it. So I just take the oil out of the engine, put it back in the bottles and take it back to the store and exchange it.

It's people like you that make me check every bottle of oil and filter when I go to buy them

I don't do that.

I respectfully dump it in the neighbors well.
