I wish that was the case. Im never above 2000rpm and set the cruise at 60 when on the highway. I even have my tires aired to 60psi for better rolling resistance. My biggest problem is 80% city.

14mpg in the city is nothing to sneeze at, I am getting 13.75 in town and my truck weighs 1400lbs more than yours does and I baby the throttle and never see much over 2100RPM.

Morning.
I was talking to bud at work about his fun weekend he had. Hes got an 09 Gmc 1/2 ton with 25,000 km on it. Hes been having problems with is consuming oil, not just a little but alot. Anyways he said he got an oil change friday, drove 45 mins down the highway to camp when he blew a wheel bearing the got the low oil light come on. He had to add 3 quarts of oil to get it on the dip stick So he called the Chevy dealer in town told him he was coming back with the truck they said no problem and about 10 mins back on the highway the motor grenaded. It blew so hard it bowed the hood up

5.3’s are known for crappy pcv systems......when one goes bad or gets stuck it doesn't take long for the motor to consumer the oil....
