Let's start over......
This is great advice. After being at Target for nearly 5 years, I've become quite good at this. I don't lie, I don't get commission and I could never sell on commission. It really makes me happy when I help someone and they appreciate going the extra mile. It doesn't benefit me much (other than pay), but I try to make sure they have what they need, give honest opinions and if I don't know, I tell them. Sometimes you can fudge your way through things, but you need to know the line of when it's not a big deal, and when you need someone who knows more. People get all upset around the holidays that work in retail because they say how rude people are. While that's true, I've had 2 people get mad at me all season, and it was directed towards store policy. Your demeanor and willingness to help makes someone more likely to buy from you and I've been thanked countless times because I've helped someone fully instead of just saying "buy this."
