Even creepier is walking in the woods at night and hearing a Bobcat's cry. My Sister In Laws property backs up against a Zoo in Wallace Michigan and the owner has a pack of wolves. If you go out on the porch and do a wolf howl one will answer then the rest will join in in chorus.

Maggie is not intimidated by any other dog. She has gone after a Rottie and Doberman, thankfully, she was on a leash and they were too. But, out here in the woods when I take her walking down the road late at night, we will sometimes hear coyotes howling. When she hears them, she ducks her tail and heads for the house. The only time I have seen her afraid. She can hear dogs barking or howling in the woods and she will just stop to listen. She instintivly knows the coyotes are something different.

It's funny how animals know predators with out ever being around them before.

Another erie sound is being out in the woods and listening to the coyote's talk around you and then realize your surrounded by them. The other is knowing you are being stalked by wolfs and coyote's when your out in the woods and never seeing them. Ever since that happened with a pack of coyotes when a friend and I were out building a road on his property we don't go into the woods unarmed.

It amazes me how they smell the "good stuff" thru a plastic tras bag. They know right where to make the entry bite.
