BTW.....lithium batteries have different tolerances to cold than lead acid batteries...

I run a motorcraft(came with truck new) with a battery blanket and battery tender....if the truck is going to be parked outside I've also got a solar powered battery tender....

I've only have ever used the factory/dealer installed block heaters....never had any issues with them.....the last two work trucks I've had haven't come with anything to help in the winter and they've always started ok in the winter months....
I just hate the having to let it run to warm it up... keeping it warm for a few hours before I start should make that less and save the gas due to idling. Last year with the bad thermostat was terrible. It would not even peg the middle mark. I have to put a bag over the grille and even then it wasn't getting up to temp

the ones I've been looking at (viper, autopage, Clifford, audiovox) around $250 plus install....leaning towards the viper or autopage.....smart start phone app can be added down the road if I want to pay for it....

I'm adding on motion, radar motion, glass breakage modules.....@ aprox $20 each...either one of the kits will come with an lcd sstll 2 way transmitter remote fob that'll let you know what's going on....

its nice to have friends in the business that I started with 25+ years ago that are still in business.....there are a few hack joints around here that I know of and will never go to....they usually don't last long....
