I remember the original show's from back in the early 50's and then the re-run's from the 60's. My dad listened to the radio show back in the '30's. They have a lot of the old show's on you tube.

My Dad bought a TV in 1949 even before the first station in New Orleans went on the air. He told me the first televised programs were the wrestling matches out of Chicago. This was maybe around 1950. TV was a Crosley with a round screen and was the old tube type. We only had one station for about 3 or 4 yrs. and had to use the old outside antenna's. I watched many program's on that set. Catch ya'll later, going to run some errand's.

Yep, we had a tall, three legged antenna set in concrete. Had a motorized rotor that turned the top(receiver). The control sat on the TV. You turned the **** to the direction of the station. We picked up 3 stations, Shreveport, Tyler and Longview. They went off the air about midnight, every night.

The set was all tube and pretty sure it was a Zenith.

If a tube went out of tyour TV or your radio, you pulled out the suspicious tubes, went to the drug store and tested them on their machine. If it proved bad, you could buy a replacement from their inventory.
