Why don't you do something fun, like paint the house?

Got it all taken apart and cleaned up. The picture with the gun on wooden surface looks just like the gun I have but blued.
Cool gun Randall.

Vinyl siding. No need to paint that.

You'er welcome Randall.

I would take it in and have it appraised before you do that, it may be worth more the way it is before you try to restore it and make it look new. I have 3 guns that are old family heirlooms and I'm going to leave all of them alone and the only thing I'm going to do to them is take them apart and give them a very thorough cleaning and lube. The oldest one is my grampa's Remington Model 8 that according to the serial number it's 108 years old.

I thought about that Dave, but this gun was handed down to me after my Uncle passed. Looks like he has already sanded on it so that there took away from what it might be worth.

It does need washing down though. About that time of year again.

Has it actually been sanded or has the bluing just worn off? I know on some of the older firearms the bluing was not the greatest and pretty easily warn off especially if someone used newer detergent motor oil as lube on it. It may not hurt just to check.

It's been sanded on. You can see the marks in it.

Then I would agree and say it's a really good restoration candidate and just hang onto it.

YUP!!! From what I've read about it, it is a very old gun. Has to be 100+ years old. It's going to look good in the gun case after I refinish it. It's a 5 shot.

The boss just left for a 6 hour drive (San Antonio) in his new Platinum EB. Will be interesting to see what kind of mileage he gets. He was moaning about putting 37 gallons in the tank. LOL
