Success! Both front calipers (2nd set) were crumbled. Bought a new set (3rd) from Advanced Auto. He loved the hub conversion and the impact made quick work of the hub bolts. Replacing the upper bj went well, a slight fight with the spindle but between the two of us we got it done and it was trashed. I also greased every fitting and tightened everything to spec. The rear hoses need to be replaced with the metal line as the unit seems to be one piece so we held off on those for now. The parking brake was so bad, he was able to get it loose and braking is great once again. I'm very happy and I learned a lot once again. Detailing his ranger this week as repayment for all his help. Look for a thread for a thread... the detailing section has fallen asleep
